What Did You Do Today?

Spread mulch today and was happy to see some seeds sprouted, some bulbs coming up, that I planted a couple weeks ago.  REALLY nice day today--cool breeze and solid sunshine, a great combo.  Not too hot (tomorrow near 90, and same predicted for Tues.).  Thinking of Forry, I fixed iced coffee today, which I seldom have but enjoy the heck out of when I do make it.  Gassed up the Blazer, got groceries, and enjoyed the day.  Took choc. chip cookies over to the folks across the road--Mr. Lowe is 95 and does really well.  And loves cookies or the occasional piece of pie, so I make sure to take him and his daughter a treat now and then.  Talked to friend Monsterphile on the phone a little in the afternoon.  It was a good day.

Went to Staples and xeroxed some labels for the last batch of Forry books I acquired, and then spent a quiet day keeping out of the heat.  Ran the sprinkler on plants a while, but otherwise stayed in and quiet.  Watched A&C in IT AIN'T HAY this evening.  Little Janet Ann Gallow (Cloestine in GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN) has a small part in it--she gets to kiss Lou Costello in one scene, and give him a whack in another!

Glad today is over! I went to inspection, after spending 862.00 to get it to pass...the line was so long that I left. I went to the gym, did my workout then got back to inspection at 11 AM. By 2:00 PM I had made it through inspection. After all that time plus the 862 I get a big red "rejected" sticker. I was rejected because my satellite radio was mounted to the winshield and deemed "unsafe". I promptly removed the radio with a swiss army knife and had to sit in "reinspection" for another hr. Finally I passed.

Visited my mom and she is worried the dog has lyme disease, she has been very fatigued and has a "bite mark" on her. So I assume I will be at the vet in less then 24 hrs.

In between all this drama I shot a few messages over to the good BaronLatos which was a nice diversion. After all the inspection/dog drama was over I got a phone call to meet for a few beers and watch the Yankee game. Threw on my jersey and went out for a few Amstel Lights and some chicken qusedillas....a jam band played and the singer, aside from having a great voice had me walking into walls...multiple times. Nice ending to a day with a stinky start!

My daughter Catherine had a field trip for Chorus to go to the Wildwood Convention Center at the Jersey shore.  My wife Diane, my niece Aileen, and I went down to see the performances by them and 6 other schools.  It ended at noon and then our school's group went to Sunset Beach at Cape May (the southern-most tip of NJ).  It isn't a beach for swimming really, just hanging out and looking for Cape May diamonds (Google it).  About 4:00 just our family went over to the ocean side of Cape May to a regular sandy beach to hang out some more.  We got home about 10:00 this evening and everyone except for me is passed out sleeping.  I'll be doing the same soon.

Well I finally got some relief from the pinched nerve in my shoulder. It too over a week of rest, three sessions of acupuncture, massage therapy, and some tequila, not 100% yet but getting there. So yesterday I finished the front porch glider, seems like I started it a month ago, then took the wife to see "Star Trek". Today I was able to paint the bottom of the boat, so after two years in dry dock the boat will be in the water tomorrow and I'll be cruising the Jersey shore.

You shoulda' thought about the tequila BEFORE the massage therapy and acupuncture and saved yourself some time!

Field Day 2009 is completed! Happy for the kids/families, happy for me. lol.

Seriously, I love doing it and it very cool watching the kids in what I call " A culminating day of Physical Education" or their greatest hits of the year!

Otherwise, yesterday talked with my friend BlackLagoon, got some music in a trade, and after this going to watch "Creature From Black Lake" on Remo D's Manor of Mayhem (never seen this movie).

Today I updated the computer, trying to make it a little faster, which is very hard, when you are on dial up.
I posted some more Vincent Price pics, one of which I really like, it's Lee, Price, ?, and Cushing.
If someone could look at it, and tell me who the guy is with them, thanks.
Re applied for SSI, but the way things are, I doubt if I will be able to get it.
Havent really done too much today, just staying in the house, where its cool.

I'm not sure who he is, but he removed John Carridine and stuck his own picture in there.

Had physical therapy today. Booorrriiing. It was an evaluation and progress status so it took forever long, but they say I'm healing nicely and I'm ahead of schedule which is good! From there picked up some groceries and stopped at the vet to get my mom's dog some medicine. She was acting funny the last few days and tested positive for Lyme disease. The vet is hopefull we caught it early on so it should be ok.

Messed around here some and followed the links everyone posted in the Shock Monster thread. Thanks to everyone for that info!! Did a bit of grocery shopping, watched the Yankee game and posted an add on craigslist looking for adult rec football players. No luck yet, but I'm hopefull, plus the games dont start till Nov. Now Im checking the scores and nodding out as we speak.

Ahh, okay, thanks Rob, I hate when people mess up pictures like that.

Posting this morning because last night was a "Night on Bald Mountain" storm with major lightning and thunder and mighty winds blowing rain everywhichway and a little hail for good measure!  Indiana/Ohio/Kentucky got a little of everything off and on.  I'm just now going out to see what-all has blown into the yard next door!  Last night before the storms got badly under way, I watched THE MASK OF DIIJON (two i's, unlike the mustard), with Erich von Stroheim and Edw. Van Sloan.  Enjoyed it!  Starting the day with iced coffee and oatmeal.

Robert, was the air 'full of monsters' last night? ;)  And I love the idea of toasting Uncle Forry with iced coffee.

Whenever we get in a gray, rainy patch, I get the hankering to pull out either THE OLD DARK HOUSE or LAURA and hunker down with a cozy blanket and a pot of tea.  (Or gin.  I like gin.)  It's been kind of gray here of late, so I may have to do that tonight.

My life has actually been rather boring of late, in that there have been no special activities.  It's just been the sort of inconsequential busy-ness of working around the house, taking care of paperwork, laundry, dishes, running errands and the like that seems to fill a day... and before you know it, it's time to hit the hay, and do it all over again the next day!

Last night husband and I sat and watched the last two episodes of the new second season Dr. Who, with David Tennant.  We don't have cable, and got hooked on the new Dr. Who when it was on local PBS, but they were not going fast enough so now we have the DVDs.  (Not to do any spoilers but... ) it was the two episodes with the Cybermen and Daleks, and the parallel worlds merging.  I was worn out when we were done! What an emotional roller coaster!
