Very sorry to hear that, Herr Geist--take care and follow a dr's order or two (easy for me to say, who has a hard time doing just that!) and get back on here as soon as you can!

I have been laid up for two days now, right now I'm trying to type via from my laz-boy chair.
My left leg swelled up two days ago,and began to ooze water out of the pores.
Tuesday, I go to the Doctors, and see what can be done.
It's due to my overweight problem, and not getting enuff movement/ exercise.
I have been spending like 10 - 13 hours a day on the net, sitting in one position, and the blood wasnt flowing properly.
So, thats why I havent been on in a couple of days, well that about sums it up.
I probally wont be back on anymore til after I visit the doctor, its kinda hard typing when your leg is propped up.

I hope you're feeling better soon my friend.
We're all here because we're not all there.

Dr. G, this really distressing-- PLEASE let us know how things go with the doctors this week, if you are able.  I hope the situation improves very, very soon!

Grand Central Station at my place today.  "Dan, Dan the Mowing Man" came to mow my lawn (he's a close neighbor) and the Mrs. came with him to talk plants with me.  Then neighbor Mr. Lowe, 95, came over and brought me the Sunday paper as he does every week when they finish reading it--and he stayed and talked for a while (a motorcycle went by, and he said, "Gosh, I'd love to have one of those again!"  He used to have an Indian--what, maybe 60 years ago!).  Then a gal I knew in high school was in town visiting her mom, so she came by for a couple hours--brought her sister along, too--and we had some great talks about small town life (she lives near D.C.now, but I have always lived near our small hometown--where EVERYbody knows your name (and is probably related to you, either by blood or by marriage--sometimes both!).  Then cuz Sara stopped by for a visit and brought me a garden ornament--a pedestal for potted plants (or birdbath/feeder, maybe) made to look like a tree trunk with two thick 'cut off branches' for holding the pots.  It weighs just about as much as a real tree, too.  So it was a busy Sunday.  Didn't have time to get into trouble today!

DR. Geist : I have had problems with lymphodema.  As you probably know, when we are not able to move our legs well - i.e. walking ,exercise, etc.,the fluid from the lymph nodes are not able to be expelled from our body.. Leg muscle contraction is what pumps out the waste from our lower bodies.  There is no other way for the wast to be pumped back up (unlike our blood which uses our leg muscles and is assisted by the heart's pumping.  What is oozing from your leg is not water but lymph waste!. Don't touch it unless you are gently washing it off because it carries bacteria.  The Doctor can give you some antibacterial cream and you must get a pair of compression hose.  The hose will help get rid of the waste and it will not stretch out (or "relax").  A physical therapist can give some exercises also that will help reduce the swelling.  You must follow the therapists exercises and wear the hose or your legs will not stop the swelling and the waste can continue to build up until it reaches your heart.  To say the least,,YOU DON"T WANT THAT!
Good luck and God Bless you!

Feel better soon Doc.

Got back around 9 tonight. Great weekend getaway with my wife (a work related event for her). Political in nature, so I won't go into details here, but it was at a golf and tennis resort in VA. A beautiful place and a good time, feel very fortunate to be able to go. I didn't play (just enjoyed my first time being somewhere like this), my wife played golf this morning with her colleague and 2 other clients for one of the featured events, ate well, drank more (lol) and met some great people.

Watched the Lakers go up 2-0, went online, ready for bed.

I'm having health issues myself. So I feel your pain. I Hope you'll find some relief soon.  :)

Saturday night, we had a reunion of musician and party friends, most of whom I haven't seen in 20-30 years.  The wild times of those days left many dead, and today of those who are still alive, many are dying.  I heard the term "survivors" a lot, but not survivors in the traditional sense, surviving something done to us...  rather we survived things we did to ourselves.  I'm one of the lucky ones, not walking around with Hep C or something worse.  But it was not a night to dwell on those things, several bands which haven't played in years got back together for this party and played a few songs.  The singer from my band is dead.  Our drummer lives in NY now and wasn't interested in thinking about the old days, but our guitar player came in from Florida and without practice, with a fill-in drummer (who is a good friend from those days), and with 5 or 6 people trying to sing, I climbed back up on a stage and played a few songs.  It was a lot of fun seeing everyone, and blowing the dust off my equipment.  I finally found my bag of cords and picks, strap, etc.

When I say dust, I mean...  ;D

Yesterday was mostly recovering.

Today, back to work.

Bobby, I suspect you were in 7th Heaven--or approaching nirvana--or whatever analogy works for old rockers getting together and rocking out after a long time away.  Congrats on knowing how to have a GREAT time.

Today I took my old friends Kary & Wib, a couple 83 and 88, to a local nursery and we spent an hour or so walking and looking--and we got a few plants.  Then back here for a song fest at the piano--my dad used to say I played piano like I was killing snakes--so, many snakes whomped today, and Kary & Wib sang old favorites.  Then took 'em to the newly re-opened Greek restaurant in town here and we had gyros and grape leaves and so on--REALLY good--and finally back home to crash.  It was a long and full day, but a lot of fun.

Coughcool, hope your health improves soon!

Glad you had a nice get away there, Baron!

And hopefully Dr. G. will let us know how he is doing, after he sees the doctors today.

Robert, glad you had such a lovely outing! It sounds like a wonderful day!  Music and Greek food-- ahhh!

Bobby, your reunion sounds like it was really great... I am SO glad you had the opportunity to do that, and meet up with old friends!  It's so very important to make things like that happen.

My life is pretty quiet here... a lot of the same old same old.  Saturday night I went to the monthly prop making/model building group meeting I go to.  (I don't really do anything... I go to hang out and watch movies.)  It's been gray and rainy on and off the last couple days... I keep hoping it will make me feel like tearing into sorting and purging papers or something constructive.

Some times THAT can be a MAJOR deal. Sometimes we just take for granted being "Online" Almost half the people I work with that have PCs are not "connected".

Today Cuz Sara and I went to the Greek restaurant and I introduced her to the joys of gyros and spanikopita.  She was addicted INSTANTLY and just emailed me that she needs a gyro fix.  Well, didn't take long to make THAT convert!  Pulled weeds today and took an afternoon nap.  The mail brought another shipment of Forry's books--about 20 more today.  He surely enjoyed a wide range of books--everything here from Harris' MANHUNTER to DIE JAGER VON GOR, from an A. Merritt story called CREEP, SHADOW! to the biog of Shirley Jackson, PRIVATE DEMONS.  Good stuff!
