Thank you!...Im starting to see more similarities with UMA members other then Monsters!...Sore throats, pinched nerves, foot problems...we could all use a trip to Dr Frankenstein! :)

Here's hoping we all feel better soon!

Ain't middle age great? We went to a friend's son's graduation party last night, rented A Prarie Home Companion movie. It was very good, if you're a fan of the radio program, & I am. Today, we visitited some friends at a long-term care facility, brought my girl friend's dog along, he was a hit as usual. Tomorrow I'll attend a grave decorating ceremony at the Rock Island, IL Arsenal w/my father. I hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend!

Decorated my mom and dad's graves this morning--cemetery looked great, with fresh flags on veterans' graves and lots of flowers, too.  Went grocery shopping and bought not-quite-everything I wanted, but enough.  Decided I needed some Hebrew Nat'l hotdogs, and I enjoyed the heck out of a couple of those for supper.  Not the best for me, but "the taste of summer vacation".  Watched several episodes of the old tv series DRAGNET.  I'm a Jack Webb fan!

Ah ,Robert, the good old days !
Just give us the facts,ma'am.

Gasport

Got my mom a new HD TV for her birthday [she turns 86 on the 31st and lives here w/us] last week. Gave it to her early and soon came to realize a big reason her old TV had such a crappy picture was due to a problem w/her cable. SO... today i spent the afternoon getting up close and personal with the brown recluse spiders in the crawlspace under my house and ran a new line for her...Hope she realizes what a devoted son she has!

I relaxed for most of the day. At 6 pm I got to the studio and started the vocals (again) for my band's cd at 7 pm I actually started singing (screaming actually) and finished at 11, I am exhausted and hoarse but very happy with how it came out. We finished up and 3 of us and the engineer had some Chinese food while listining to the recording. I came home, switched into sleep wear, cleaned up..hopped online and promptly got myself a Imperial Kong (my 1st!) via eBay. Now Im messing around here for a bit and looking foward to relaxing day tomorrow that hopefully includes a visit from friends and family and maybe a beer or two!

That is great, Gasport! I bet she is going to love all you did.  My mom-in-law just got a new HD TV from my brother-in-law, and I helped her program it.  She dropped her cable, she was so angry with the company, but there are so many wonderful stations on local broadcast now that she says she has plenty to watch with all the digital channels.

Robert, I think you can feel a wee bit less guilty-- the Hebrew Nation dogs are, I think, of the hot dogs one of the ones that are a little meatier, less fat.  (Besides, I bet you don't do that often!)

Had another good day yesterday-- puttered around the house while husband helped a neighbor with some tree trimming, went for my walking exercise and it was cool enough that it was very pleasant, watched a BBC program on DVD while I worked in the kitchen, and had a lovely evening chat with sister-UMA'er Jane by phone in the evening.  (I was missing her, and thought about emailing, and then thought to heck with that I'd just use those free cell minutes and call!)

Today husband and I are both home, which is a nice change-- feels like one or the other of us is always running.

And hot dogs are on the menu here today too... meat for husband, a veggie dog for me.

May 25th. Yippee. I turned 49 today. :o. Had a crummy nite sleep as usual. Slept from 10pm to 2:15 am. Woke up and was not able to get back to sleep til around 5 or so. At least I had the day off and got another 3 hrs worth. Got some cool stuff. The Dick Briefer 50s Frankenstein comic reprint book. Showcase Presents House of Mystery volumes 2 & 3. Jonah Hex Volume 1.The Zombie Factory reprint book. This is a collection of those sleazy gore filled comics of the 70s. Dan Curtis Frankenstein. Night Stalker/Night Strangler. Pretty good haul. Lifted some weights after breakfast then had a marathon thru the day of all my new movies. Drank 2 goblets of Belgian Ale and started on Icehouse. Had a burger and by then was feeling NO pain at all. Ended up going to bed way early. 8:30 ???.

May 26th.
Had the day off. Wasted most of the morning looking at stupid stuff on the net. Read 80 pages of Jonah Hex and an another 2 hrs of a horror novel. Built new grill. A REAL one this time (Weber) did a little BBQ'n. Started to rain a few minutes before food was done. Am enjoying my 5th IPA. Back to work tomorrow. YAY. :(

Sun and hot, so I ran the hose/sprinkler on the new bed by the sidewalk--but then the REAL rains came, which made me rejoice to the extent that I had a couple more Hebrew Nat'l hotdogs for supper.  Not as good as Nathan's, but as Elizabeth says, a sort of healthy choice for a hotdog, anyhow.  Watched more DRAGNET episodes, worked on putting my Forry memorabilia back on the shelves.  Also watched, on History Channel, some reruns of that "Life After People" series--which fascinates me.

This morning I went to the gym and today marks the 1st day since about..oh..last September that I did a full work out since my shoulder surgery. So a bit apprehensive, and incredibly light weight...compared to the weight that landed me in the hospital, along with physical therapy and I'll be back in no time. Came home, made my shake and lunch did a bunch of paper work and got that out of the way. Fast foward to to the last hr or so, and I get a call from mom..who lives right next to me, that the dog swallowed something and both her and sis are freaking out. The once again Satan possessed Yorkshire Terrier ended up getting the plastic tag off of some new clothes my sister had laid out on her bed. The plastic was down her throat and wrapped around her tooth. With lots of coaxing, one person to hold her, one to hold the flashlight and me to grab the plastic and get bit about 50 times...its ok, and she is safe and at the foot of moms bed. Being an animal lover..though I never cared for small dogs, yes Idid grow to love that gremlin but as I told them both upon leaving "if you guys had adopted an annoyed King Cobra, you wouldve picked a better mannered pet!"......As I type this, I also just won a B-9 Robot from Trendmasters on eBay......I can start using this thread to see how much I spend a week on stuff!!...

Oh, and Happy Bday Wicked!

Happy Birthday Wicked...enjoy the grill. I had a pretty large run of the first Hex series.

BlackLagoon I feel you on $$$ spent, as soon as I win something, I'm watching 10 other items! Now if I could only afford all of them, lol.

Otherwise, Field Day was postponed due to the rain. The PK and Kindergarten kids were disappointed (since it was their day that was postponed) the 1st and 2nd graders were worried having theirs tomorrow. If not, rain dates Thursday and Friday.

Online now, getting ready for bed.

Happy day late birthday, Lester!

Robert, so glad you had rain for your lovely garden!

Black Lagoon, way to go on getting back to the gym-- and take it slow and easy there!

Husband and I had a good Memorial Day-- cleaned up the brush from the tree he is in the process of removing for the neighbor (a wonderful gentleman with some physical challenges/health issues).  I figured dragging tree limbs was going to count for my work out that day.  As it rained, we ended up doing our hot dog cook-out indoors, and roasted them on a stick in the fireplace.  In the evening, we watched a couple Dr. Who episodes, and then went outside to listen to a pair of Great Horned owls hooting back and forth in a spruce tree out front.   Nifty! :)  Moments like that make the insanity of owning this chunk of property worthwhile.

Today was another quiet day at home, with work around the house.  This evening I headed out to hear a d.j. friend who does horror theme music shows spinning tunes at a bar in a near-west suburb (near-west meaning near Chicago, far from me).  After the music, they ran a 16mm film of "The Invisible Man's Revenge."  On the way there it absolutely freaking poured rain, to the point that the wipers had trouble keeping up, and poured on and off while I was in the bar.  Fortunately, it held off the whole way home, right until I pulled into the driveway.  (The bar is Cigars and Stripes in Berwyn, and the next one of these will be the end of June, screening King Kong, if anyone in the Chicago area is interested!)

Memorial Day was my wife Diane and my 13th anniversary, but half of the day was involved with driving up to northern NJ to Newark International Airport to pick up her brother and his family.  They had spent about a week and a half in Italy.  Our romantic dinner was at McDonalds in the airport.  lol   Luckily we had done the BBQ thing on Sunday and had plenty of leftovers that we were able to share when we got home.

Tuesday we also finally got rain for our plants.  We still have a row of little bushes/shrubs lined up waiting to be planted (maybe today?).  I did a little cleaning in the basement trying to clear out some clutter to replace it with new clutter.   I got a bunch of phone calls including one from a drunken severed head named Max.

Cooked some Nathans hot dogs for dinner.  I sliced up a jalapeno pepper and threw it in a pan and fried it.  It made for a nice addition to the hot dogs.  I like experimenting with what can go with a hot dog.

Korean lunch at Kim's Restaurant (soft tofu soup for me) today with friend Jill (she had bulgogi beef and rice), and Chun Mae, who is the cook and , with husband Larry, the owner, gave me several Korean Sesame plants for my garden.  As it turned out, I already had this plant==for 40 years!--but didn't know it was edible--thought it was just decorative!  So went ahead and planted the sesame when I got home, and then former student and his 16 yr old son came and worked on loading a brush pile at the back of my property onto their pickup, to make it disappear.  They'll finish it tomorrow.  Great to see the heap going away!

I went to the gym early and this is day number 2 so it felt GREAT to be sore from this. Afterwards I came home and studied for my personal trainers exam which will be during the summer. Went up to phys therapy and got home in time to make a turkey sandwhich and watch the soccer game between Manchester U and Barcelona. (not a big soccer fan, but I understood the mangnitude of the game so I had to watch.) After that I shot over to Target and picked up some stuff for around the house. Also noticed they had Season 1 of Land Of The Lost on DVD which I may have to pick up. Stopped at Shop-Rite for some grapefruit and a case of water and came home. Had lentil soup and a protien shake for dinner. Right now I'm watching the Yankees and finishing burning some cds for a fellow UMA'er :)

I DIDNT buy ANYTHING on eBay today...and my trip back from the mailbox was a sad one, being that there wasnt a book or a monster toy in it today lol.
