The Living Dead Girl; another Jean Rollin flick and again I liked it.
Rollin is really a mixed bag, but I liked this one a lot. I also liked Night of the Hunted, although some sites I looked thought it was one of his worst, but it was pretty amazing as a euro horror movie that actually made sense! (kinda).

Ugh...Rob Zombie's movies disgust me...his lack of ability to have one line of dialogue with out an F bomb...and his moral depravity and absence of anyone resembling a normal person just sickens me (and I am by no means a prude, I love the Friday the 13th series for instance)

neonnoodle

Bride of Frankenstein! plus She's Alive! the documentary on the making of the film.

I never get bored with BofF!
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

The Rogues Tavern (1936)
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Good Against Evil (1977)
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

general gruesome

Great White (1980) - It wasn't the greatest but was alright. It really was a rip-off of Jaws, like everyone and critics say. For some reason, I like the poster for it though.
Cannibal Ferox (AKA Make Them Die Slowly) (1981) - Decent cannibal Italian exploitation film, tons of gore and is extremely cheesy and low-budget,

I am truely sorry you feel that way. I cant help but think that was a common statement about most B-movie directors and horror writers and directors of Their time throughout the past 60+ years that created NEW UNIQUE & FRESH ideas on a very low budget and filmed the whole movie within a month or very little time. Or anyone for that matter who didnt make your average hollywood general audience movie. I for one am a fan of Rob Zombies writing/directing and music. I know he will be recognized as a MAJOR influence on horror movies in the future. And hey After all he is a monster kid too. he is an avid fan of b-movies and all old horror movies. and is a major munsters fan to boot! i wouldnt be surprised if he was a member of the UMA. Now That would be Cool. Hats off to ya Rob!

I think Rob Zombie film wise is great at writing his own material. House of 1000 Corpses (which I recently watched) and The Devil's Rejects have elements of old horror classics and road films. As for remakes which he generally just filmed one remake, he should stay away from. Writing his own stuff, he's rad at. Also, if you watch him on his episode of MTV cribs, he has one neat house full of old-school monsters and vintage movie posters and a HUGE collection of vhs/dvds. And I do think it's cool how he's a fan of The Munsters like me! that's such a great show.

Phantom Stranger

As part of our monthly Bad Movie Nights a group of friends and I watched this awesome double feature:

"Frankenstein Conquers The World" (1965)

Plot: IMDB

During WWII, a human heart taken from a certain lab in Europe (Dr. Frankenstein's) is kept in a Japanese lab, when it gets exposed to the radiation of the bombing of Hiroshima. The heart grows in size, mutates and sprouts appendages, and eventually grows into a complete body and escapes. Later, a feral boy with a certain physical deformity (a large head with a flat top) is captured by scientists who refer to the boy as Frankenstein. The creature grows to the height of 20 feet, escapes again, fights police and army, and is practically indestructible. Later, a reptilian monster goes on a rampage. Eventually the Frankenstein creature and the reptile face off in a terrible battle.

Phantom's Review: Only the Japanese would think of turning the Frankenstein monster into a giant and have him fight a fire breathing monster.
Silly, but lots of fun.

"Frankenstein Meets The Space Monster" (1965)
Plot: IMDB

When an atomic war on Mars destroys the planet's women, it's up to Martian Princess Marcuzan and her right-hand man Dr. Nadir to travel to earth and kidnap women for new breeding stock. Landing in Puerto Rico, they shoot down a NASA space capsule manned by an android. With his electronic brain damaged, the android terrorizes the island while the Martians raid beaches and pool parties.

Phantom's Review: Truly one of the worst films of any kind ever made. A crap classic. A film so bad, that after it was over we had to open a window to let the stink out. In other words..perfect for "Bad Movie Night"

Hmmmm (strokes chin thoughtfully)

Anyway; Island of Lost Souls.  Laughton steals every scene he is in.  Masterful.
