To suggest that i am snarky is hipocritical. And furthermore backing up with my own reasoning why MY comparison of him to the past decades of horror and b movie writers, is MY right...Just as it is yours to disagree. I am not asking you to accept my premesis, nor do i expect you to.  And i dont need to spend 15 seconds on google to know what the popular vote is!. You could just as easily spend 15 seconds on google and find  just as many of his fans that agree with me.
As far as the Twilight comment, i was not suggesting that you were a fan. i was merely using it as an example of the teenage crap cookie cutter movies that have been made of late, i could have just as easily used SAW or countless other unoriginal movies. What has been released in the last ten years! What is even worth talking about in the world of horror moviewise? and yes I liked Kong. Sue me! but you have to admit the majority on this board seem to despise any remake! by ANYone! nothing is ever right or good enough.
If you felt i wasnt giving you latitude or courtesy I appologize for that scatter. it was not my intention. The majority of his movies  I really enjoy, and i was merely defending something that i really like. As would you Im sure if someone completely shot down one of your favorite movies. When you are the minority somewhere sometimes you have to talk a little louder to be heard.  and no im not Rob.

I don't know...........it's crossing genres to me. Mummy '99 is as much a horror film as Mary Poppins. And just about as scary.

That said, the original "Mummy" is my least favorite of all the Uni horror classics.

You are correct sir...it's more of an adventure film with slightly horrific elements at times.  I don't think the original is all that scary though, and if anything it's lifeless and dull...like a mummy  :P

The BURBS. I will never tired of this movie. Bruce Dern is absolutely  brilliant in it!

I watched Frank Darrabont's "The Mist" this afternoon.  Besides having to put up with Marcia Gay Harden's performance as a fire and brimstone loony, the ending of this movie was so bleak, so thoroughly devastating, that I became somewhat depressed. I needed something to pick me up. I then threw on -

Agreed. The Mist is one of my absolute favorite King short stories  and i loved seeing it up on he big screen practically verbatim to what he wrote...then Darabont yanks the rug out from under me and completely changes the ending. Very disappointing. Up until the last fewminutes though, i was loving it.
"It's Alive...oh, It's Alive! It's Alive, It's Alive...IT'S ALIVE!!!"

I loved that short story. (the mist) the first time I had heard it was on a trip home from my grandmothers, she lived about 200 miles away. Anyway it had gotten dark and mind you this is before portable dvds, or anything portable for that matter. I was bored and my older brother decided to tell me a story he recntly read. I swear he remembered every word, he was always a great storyteller. I was enthralled with the characters and the entire situation and it literally blew me away! Being 10 years old I hadn't read any king books yet. The story lasted for most of the trip. And if you dont know I-80 follows a river as it get closer to my home, and being springtime and night needless to say we hit a fog bank for the last 40 miles of the trip. I had never seen fog so thick, and still havent. You couldn't see tailights until they were 10  feet in front of you! All you saw was darkness out the side windows and white fog in the headlights! My mom, brother and me were on the edge of our seats the entire rest of the trip. It couldn't have been more perfect! After that I became a steven king fanatic and love the majority of his writing. all because of an awesome big brother with a memory like a steel trap ,a perfectly written story, and a 40 mile fog bank.
I Have to admit when I heard they were making a film, I was nervous. Almost every SK book that had been turned into a movie had been horrible. And this was my favorite story from memory. As I watched it I was more and more relieve, they did pretty good I thought. UNTIL THE END! I was disgusted, and it takes alot to disgust me! I can't believe anyone thought that would be a good way to end that movie. I have to wonder of SK had any qualms or even any say in it? Either way I just pretend that movie was never made.

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

I haven't read the story, but I gather that the original story ended pretty ambiguously. There was nothing ambiguous about the film's ending though. I know some people like the ending because it feels "real" but for me it was just too harsh. I don't want to say much more because I don't want to ruin it for anyone but it really made me feel depressed afterwards.

The BURBs, great flick. One of Joe Dantes finest films besides
Matinee. I could never get tired of either of the films.

THE LOST BOYS
I hadn't seen it for several years. So I dusted off the dvd and threw it in. Man, it has really stood the test of time the story, effects, humor, all still completely watchable. Still one of my all time favorites. Definate classic material. Its weird watching corey haim now, in this silver bullet and Lucas. He was  so innnocent and good hearted. Definately a different kid than in his last tv show i watched him in- the two coreys.         RIP Corey.
Does anyone know if there Is there a dvd or blue ray release that has extra features? Like some behind the scenes and outtakes, and maybe even some deleted scenes on it?  If not they need to make one!
