Yesterday the heat index was 100+, so I laid low--today, after a heavy overnight rain storm, less humid and not as hot.  Got out and pulled weeds, tied up plants.  Tomatoes need more weeding and tying, but that's for another day.  Mowing guy came and did the lawn and HE complained about the heat--which is unusual for him--so it must have been hotter than I thought.  Last night watched THE ORPHANAGE, which was good, and tonight watched several of the 3rd season of ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS episodes.  Some great casts--Cedric Hardwicke, Vincent Price, Joseph Cotten, Mildred Dunnock, Jessica Tandy--great stuff!  UMA buddy Dustin coming for a visit tomorrow, so I've been putting the monster memorabilia in order today.  Something accomplished today for a change!

Had a great weekend! Friday was quiet, did the gym in the A.M and P.M....I visited my friend, had a few beers and relaxed. Saturday, I did some shopping then visited my good (and very rough around the edges friend) Al from Train Town....Al served in the Korean War, is old enough to be my grandfather but kicks like a mule, is sharp as a razor and very funny. He can talk railroads all day....incredibly knowledgable about old movies and will sometimes very "colorfully" share stories about the war. So I paid Al a visit and he took some 1:24 scale NASCAR collectables off my hands (neither of us really wanted) and I ended up getting a new Lionel tanker car in the trade. Said car is sleeping in the closet with his new buddies and will make its appearance this fall when the set is put together for the holliday season. Last night I hit a bar with some friends and heard a few stories rehashed that literally had Amstel Light comming out of my nostrils....great great night and look foward to hanging with those guys again soon! Now its Sunday night, I went and hit golf balls at the driving range even though the rain was comming down in SHEETS!! Thank God they put those canopy things up! ...Did very well hitting straight at about 200 YDS.....gonna watch some TV, make my quick list for what I have to do for work tomorrow and hit the sack.

Spent the better part of the day just relaxing with family. Had a nice big Italian feast at Buca di Peppo restaurant. Ate so much that I thought I was gonna ... well, you know what I mean. Spent the rest of the day and evening getting caught up here at UMA and trying to digest my food. Hot and humid here in Mpls. Hate humidity with a passion. 90s are in the forecast for the beginning of the week. Already dreaming a nice cool fall day.

Tired yesterday by evening time, so just vegged.  But yesterday was great.  UMA buddy DrMonster was doing a d.j.'ing job for a wedding reception on Sat. not far from here, so he came over Sunday and spent the day.  As his wife & kids were visiting her folks, I treated him to his Father's Day lunch, I guess!  lol  We spent the day going through boxes and heaps and shelves of my collection, looking at photos and autographs and scripts and contracts and programs and props and models and memorabilia that hadn't seen the light of day in a while.  As Dr Monster is a fan of monster books, he got a kick out of going through my shelf of Forry's books and other genre-related books.  He brought a satchel full of HIS books, too, for me to look at, so it was a good monster-show & tell day.

I've been battling a major allergy/sinus infection for the last week, tomarrow I'm gonna call the Doctor, and see if he can prescribe me some antibiotics to get rid of this.
Today I went around the house spraying Home defense, we had a scorpion in Mom's bedroom floor last night.
Boy, is it hot outside, went to get the mail and could hardly breathe.
Got back inside quickly where its nice and cool, and watched "The Devil Commands" with Boris Karloff, never seen it before, and I loved it.
A great movie to see, so if no one has seen it, I highly recommend that you do.
Tonight we watch some more of the series "Band of Brothers", another great show, and I highly recommend it also.

UnGodly hot and humid in South Florida today, and I had to work out in it. Can't wait to, God willing, get the flock OUT of Florida and back up into the Great White North of New England.

I can see us now, in a small town, in a 100 year old Victorian house, colored leaves dropping around while the smell of the fireplace wafts through the woods.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...............
We're all here because we're not all there.

Snow is more awful than it looks.  Get 10 feet or so and you'll be back in FL

Ah, you forget my dear that I am a native New Englander. I am no stranger to snow. I love the cold, I love the fall, I love SEASONS, I even love snow.

I've NEVER been fond of this flat, unchanging blast furnace of a State.

I hate the Hotter than Hades summer and I hate the chilly freeze of winter.
Most of all, I hate fireplaces, simply because it makes my allergies flare up.

My buddy Greg, who I worked with in the jr high/high school field for many years, came for a visit--we went out for Korean food, and then came back and watched the George Stevens documentary on TCM and had some good conversation, talking about everything from DEADWOOD to TRUE BLOOD, from William Henry Harrison to post-WWI Austria (two history buffs, movie buffs).  Then watched some video of one of his athletes, a  tremendously talented girl--state champ this year in shot put/discus (Greg is a history teacher and track/field coach).  Very good evening.  Tomorrow have to start packing for the upcoming Bash!

Robert, that sounds like another lovely day! Between  your visitors this week, and Monster Bash this weekend, you may suffer a withdrawal next week from all the fun!

Chatty, wish I could have gone swimming!

Dr. T, another possibility-- the pesticide chemicals you used to spray may have irritated the situation.  Perhaps mention those to the doctor as well.

Unbearably hot here in Chicagoland today.  Bleck!  :P However, in spite of the heat I tried to keep busy and get some extra stuff done around the house here, before I am due to leave for Monster Bash.  Slowly starting the packing process, but will need to ramp that up tomorrow.  Hand washed something special I am packing in honor of Forry, and dug around and found my funny (and somewhat naughty) Frankenstein monster t-shirt, which has not seen the light of day since our dear Raymond chuckled at it back at the Bash in 2007.

Tomorrow I need to start cooking the food dishes I am leaving for the hubby... not looking forward to firing up the oven on another hot day!  I may get up early to do that.

Scatter, when it gets hot and humid, I recommend popping in The Thing (either original or Carpenter), a little Deadly Mantis, or something else with a frosty touch to it.  Another movie from more recent decades that you might enjoy (set in snowy New England) is Ghost Story. Lotsa white stuff in that one.

I am not eager to have winter back, but I do love cooler weather and using our fireplace.  Perfect would be a temperate day and a chilly night-- makes for better sleeping, and we can enjoy the fireplace with a movie.  My dad was an arborist (tree care professional), as is my husband... so ample firewood and using the fireplace has always been part of what makes a house home to me.

However, today I would not even consider lighting the candle I keep on the kitchen table. ;)
