Hello all, it's great to be back on.
I went to see my Doctor today, and everything is okay, I just need to move around more and not sit in one spot too long.
So every hour, I get up and walk around for 5 min. to get the blood pumping thru my legs.
I waited til sundown, and took a little walk up the driveway and around the yard.
I dint dare walk on or near the road during the summer, too many kids rippin and roarin down the road to the lake.
Sat down this evening, and watched "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", now I've seen 3 musicals in my lifetime.
Thank you all for caring

Glad you're doing better my friend. Today my wife left for New York and her high school reunion. So, it's MEN'S WEEK at Castle Scatter.

Jordan and I planning on eating all the ice cream and watching all the movies we WANT (then lying about it over the phone), and taking in some outside activities as well, including a local fair and a traipse through an honest to badness haunted house.

Here's the haunted house we're going to..........The Riddle House (oooooooooOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo)

Ghost Adventures
Riddle House

Death has been in and around the Riddle House since it was built in the early 1900s. First used as a funeral parlor, and later as a private residence, the home has seen its share of tragedy.

But what makes this haunt even more perplexing? In the 1980s, the house was moved across town and it would seem from many modern-day reports that the angry ghosts who dwelled here have followed attached to the building¿ possibly forever.

In 1905, a Victorian "Painted Lady" house was constructed at 327 Acacia Street in downtown West Palm Beach. Originally called the Gatekeeper's Cottage, the building served as a home to the overseers of the Woodlawn Cemetery across the street.

A century ago, it wasn't uncommon for families to bury their loved ones with the expensive jewelry they owned in life. Grave robbing was an ongoing problem, and those who lived in the Gatekeeper's Cottage were expected to keep an eye out for would-be criminals.

Dark History and Ghostly Lore

The first ghostly legend attached to this seemingly-normal house is that of a big man named "Buck" who once worked for the cemetery. The local legend states that Buck was killed in town after an argument spun out of control. Buck's ghost has been seen walking the grounds around the house and on the porch of the Cottage where cemetery workers would often take their meals.

In the 1920s, Karl Riddle became the first City Manager and Superintendent of Public Works. The city of West Palm Beach offered the former Gatekeeper's Cottage as a residence for Riddle. In addition to his duties as City Manager, Riddle also had to oversee the cemetery.

During his tenure at the house, one of Riddle's employees encountered financial difficulties. He became despondent and withdrawn from his family. Seeing no other way out, Riddle's employee hung himself from the rafters of the attic. After the tragedy, the beam used to hold the rope was permanently removed from the top story of the house.

The suicide was a catalyst for the darker haunting that followed. Karl Riddle's personal diary recounts how the family had trouble keeping help in the home. The staff reported hearing chains rattling on the stairs and murmuring voices. Many quit, never to return.

Riddle House in Recent Years

After Riddle and his family moved out, several businesses came and went before the building was finally used by Palm Beach Atlantic College as a girl's dormitory. By 1980, the building was abandoned, fell into disrepair, and was scheduled to be demolished by the city.

But fate had other plans for the house. The city donated the building to John Riddle, the nephew of Karl, and John Riddle donated the building for preservation. The house at 327 Acacia Street was dismantled and brought over to Yesteryear Village to go on permanent display in a location designed to send visitors on a time warp to a century ago. Perhaps the setting plays a role in guests tuning in to the haunts.

Paranormal Activity Reported

During the reassembling of the Riddle House, the dark haunting inside reared its head again. When returning to work in the mornings, carpenters would find their tools thrown from the attic and sitting on the ground below. Third-floor windows would also be found mysteriously broken. At one point, reconstruction had to stop for six months because the workers were so shaken up by what they had experienced inside.

During the private unveiling of the Riddle House in Yesteryear Village, two unexpected guests showed up to the reception. Dressed in early twentieth century garb, many commented on how dashing the pair looked. Those in attendance assumed the couple to be actors. When an old photo showing the original Riddle House was unveiled, attendees were shocked to see the couple everyone had commented on was actually in the photo. The out-of-place pair was now nowhere to be seen.

The Riddle House is one of the most active haunts in southern Florida. One visitor who had arranged for a private tour was struck in the head by a piece of wood in the staircase. The wood seemed to appear from nowhere. A maintenance worker felt she was attacked while cleaning the building and refuses to enter the house again. Other witnesses have spotted a hanging torso in the attic window. Some believe it to be some kind of macabre prop, but learn no such mannequin exists in the attic. Security personnel have seen lights going on and off in the building, and many avoid the house altogether.

Places can hold memories long after the inhabitants have moved on. Even when relocated entirely, some entities are bound to the structures around them. The reasons why may forever remain a riddle.

Scatter, you lucky devil, that is awesome.
Wish we had some Haunted areas around here close by, we has a supposedly haunted cemetery, but we found nothing but candle wax melted on gravestones and a swarm of mosquitoes.

Are you gonna take some pictures and post them?

Thanks very much for the haunted history, Scatter!  Riddle House (great name, too!) has some fascinating stories connected to it-- It looks kind of innocent and idyllic there in the Florida sunshine, but---I'm thinking it might not be quite so "welcoming" in the twilight--when you're alone--and the silence weighs heavy on your ears, and--wait--what was that noise?  Ohhhhhh, creepers!

I actually drive right past the old cemetery where the house used to sit a couple of times a week. Now they've moved the Riddle House into a section of the South Florida Fairgrounds called 'Yesteryear Village" (which is right next to my home) where a bunch of other vintage homes and a blacksmith shop and old grocery store and a Southern Bell Telephone museum sit together on dirt streets to replicate the Florida of the late 1800s.

I've been there at night, and it's a bit spooky for sure. I'm going on the tour because Jordan saw the Ghost Hunters episode with the Riddle House, and I made the mistake of telling him we live right down the road from the place LOL!! Now he can't wait to go 'But NOT AT NIGHT DADDY!! Promise??"

Wow, well the last few days were so busy I havent been able to get even post here! (which is odd for me). Well 1st things first..I had a small business that was actually pretty embryonic and before it could grow I let a few bad seeds in and it failed, and I was crushed...financially and really..emotionally for that matter. I recovered in both ways and a year has passed. My shoulder is healing well and my workouts, even today, are getting heavier and more intense, which is good. I started thinking..I'm still the legal and sole owner of this business and letting it just die is killing me. I have so many ideas, and in a way being single right now, no children, healthy etc...there is no reason (well except for the economy) to not give this hell one more time. I have to atleast try!!!...So the last 3 days I made some calls, looked at old paperwork and saw the mistakes I made..then pushed some more.

As of right now, next week I have 3 estimates! I know they are just estimates but it was a really good feeling to be booking time to look at work again!

Oh..my line of work..I do Cleanouts which literally started by me cleaning out peoples junk from their attics, basements, garages etc. Then it grew to dealing with realators and getting houses ready and now Im able to handle any kind of rubbish removal, interior cleanings, commericial or residential, and now powerwashing. If the powerwashing works out I'll extend that to gutter cleanings and if that works out, I'd like to try my hand at commercial Christmas decorations (ALOT of local landscapers around here do that, no reason I couldnt...plus I love being outside doing work like that).

Other then that, I have been enjoying the weather, keeping in contact here with my monster friend BaronLatos....and watching the Yankee game as we speak...1 run away from tying Boston!!...C'mon Yanks!!

A long day. Finished filming the Spring Concerts for the PK and Kindergarten students tonight. (tomorrow night is First and Second Grade). I always film the concerts for our Music teacher, he sets up the sound system for Field Day and we all help the Art teacher with the Art Show. Add in the Technology and Media Specialist and you have our Team at work.

Otherwise, talked with my friend BlackLagoon from music, politics and everything in between.

Hung out with another friend of mine and caught up.

Yesterday watched the Magic win 1 over the Lakers, but I think LA takes it.

Got an eBay package in: a complete set of Weird Wheels from Topps (1980). I loved these cards as a kid, had most of them and only 1 survived: Mob Mobile. Looking at these cards again, I saw old favorites: Vampire Van, Old, Old, Olds, Screaming Demon, Hearse of Horror, Zom Bee Zee etc. There is no way these things would be sold to kids nowadays. There was one that had mom and pop"sicles" complete with frozen bodies in a hearse! A cool "monster" toy from my youth that I hadn't seen in years. Not into cards, but this was the definition of nostalgic for me.

Uncula

Today was my wife's and my 31st anniversary.  For some reason, just like every year, we didn't have any extra money.  So I decided to write her an anniversary poem about her life and how it has affected me.  People always say that it's the thought that counts so I guess I can do calculus now - lol.  At least she seemed to appreciate it and as I always say, at least there is next year to get her some thing substantial.  So,...today I gave her the poem, she went to work,I kicked around most of the day.  My wife came home for supper, went to church choir practice, came home and went to bed.  Meanwhile,I came into the living room and got on the computer.
The children of the night.  What music they make!

That';s a beautiful gesture Uncula. Personally, I'd rather get something like that than anything from a store.

Well no skin off my teeth, I was getting bored of their so-called "friendly" site.
I like it much better here, even if I cant find fellow D&D players to chat with.

Storms here today, too.  Got some good rain out of 'em, and I can see things growing--esp. the weeds.  Worked on shelving most of my Forry books--still a few hiding from me, but so far I have 97 of them--which is a heck of a lot more than I realized I had.  Ended up having to move a lot of stuff on the Forry shelves to fit the books in, but I think I have it licked now.  Watched SGT. YORK earlier today.  One of the great movies--Coop was amazing.
