Here is a photo of Jack Davis' original art to one of the 1959 Topps Funny Valentine cards:

I bought it about thirteen years ago through a Hake's auction. The original artwork for a couple of the You'll Die Laughing cards done by Jack Davis were also up for bids but they went for well over 2x the price and I had to let them go to other bidders.

Here's an illustration of Cynthia from DC's The Witching Hour by Newton Burcham.

I love the Bronze Age Horror from all comic companies. Just need issues 28, 63, and 66, to finally complete my Witching Hour run.  :)

Super awesome

Quote from: horrorhunter on May 08, 2020, 07:57:36 PMHave fun. Maybe I'll post off and on. Maybe I'll just go back to being an occasional vulture. It doesn't matter anyway. Posting on UMA is like shouting in canyon...you just get an empty echo.

From one standpoint I certainly agree with you. I wish more members would post more often.

Part of your frustration though arises from the fact that you don't pace yourself very well when you start in on a subject. You therefore burn yourself out quickly. Consider. In this thread over eleven days you made sixteen posts with pictures in ten of these. At the same time in your "Comic Collecting" thread you made 25 posts with pictures in thirteen of them over fourteen days. That's a lot. In fact that's such a rapid pace that it's not only difficult to continue for long but also acts to highlight "insufficient" participation on the part of other members.

The way I do it is by feeding items/posts slowly but steadily into the threads where I have a keen interest and much to contribute. For example I'll be steadily adding contributions to your new "Comic Collecting" thread for at least the next six months. I treat a thread like I would a beautiful woman. Don't shoot your wad off right away. Take it slow, draw it out and make it last.

Here is a chalk reproduction of the cover to Vampirella 52 done by a local fellow that I bought at a convention here in Toronto in 1983 or so.

It's hanging on the wall of the room where I keep my comics, magazines and my best model kits, board games and miscellaneous toys.

I hope you don't leave The UMA, horrorhunter. I like your posts and this forum can ill afford to lose an active member.

Is that the same Ter Prince that created the resin model kit of the Famous Monsters Don Post mask ad?
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.

Yes, he left us quite a legacy of collectable art before an asthma attack cut him down years ago.

What does the signature say? (Not "Prince")

LOL - I'm afraid it does, General. Appreciate the art, not the penmanship.

Do you mean "Cenmanshic"?

Haha, I confess that signature had us scratching our heads also but that's the way "Big Ter" presented it.
Here's his self-portrait, an original in ink. He wasn't quite that ripped but close >

Here from my comics/collectibles room is a photo of my signed and numbered Neal Adams' print #33/200:

I bought it at the Toronto Fan Expo on 27 August 2005. I had Neal Adams custom date it.

Your analysis is wrong. I could easily post at three or four times my previous pace that you call "rapid" (I have a lot of stuff and a lot to post about). I'm certainly not "burned out". I just refuse to be one of a small group of people posting content while the overwhelming majority of others that utilize this site contribute next to nothing. If some of those "guests" would actually join and add just a little to the overall conversation, and more of the members would do a bit more, then this site would be worth the effort to provide content for.

I know some members still enjoy UMA and I'm glad for them that they do. I've just become very disappointed in the mass laziness that hampers this site. That isn't "burnout". It's just disappointment that has soured me on continuing to fully participate. I may still post some, but until (and if) things really start to pick up around here I can usually find more enjoyable things to do with my free time. If you want to be one of only a handful of members carrying this site then go for it. That sort of unfair arrangement isn't for me. Everyone who benefits should do their part, or at least attempt to (I don't expect everyone to post pics but they're literate enough to type).

I give as I get so I'll probably post at the same lazy-a$$ed pace the UMA faithful enjoy. Occasionally going on never.

Hi Horrorhunter.   Well,  your frustrations have been heard.  I can fully understand what you're saying here,  I just don't agree with what's rubbing you the wrong way.  I know that there are many guests that frequent the site, but, no one can force them to join.  I can also understand that with the current covid situation with a lot of people being home now would possibly prompt them to maybe post more, or more often.  Everyone has their own story to tell but one must realize that just maybe,  this current crisis is taking a real toll and people right now are putting different priorities on different things right now.  No one asked for any of this,  one must be mature enough to have an open mind and try their best to accept what is happening.  If you look at all the posts and threads throughout here you would surely see that there have been a ton of different topics discussed throughout the years.  To call this site lazy-assed just isn't fair.  A lot of hard work goes into keeping this site going,  and it needs to be appreciated,  not put down.  If you find as you say doing more enjoyable things with your free time,  do them.  I for one find it very enjoyable to read the posts on here and to finally be able to post again.  I'm trying my best to get the picture taking issue resolved, but for me, it's not easy, and I would gladly post pictures of original art and items from my collection if I could.

It's not only fair, but compared to the way UMA was just a few years ago it's a fact. I started posting on UMA around 8 years ago and this place was lively and a lot of fun. If you were around back then I don't see how you could be oblivious to that. Maybe you weren't, in which case I can understand your lack of awareness concerning this.

The pandemic came around long after UMA dwindled down to what it is now. It has nothing to do with the point I was making.

The almighty Book Of Faces has taken it's toll on UMA traffic, as well as gods-know-what-else. Some of the folks that used to post have gotten sick, or passed, for which I'm sorry. They are missed.

All I'm saying is that UMA isn't what it used to be, and it's not fair for a handful of people to carry the site for everybody else.

Petty little snide dig there because I "rubbed you the wrong way". Tough $#!+.  >:D

I had my say and I'm done with my part on this subject. Hopefully the thread can get back on topic. It is a fun thread you know.  ;D

Nice Adams print but technically prints aren't original art and don't belong in this thread. Perhaps someone should start another thread for prints (I have a sh!tload of them  ;)). Of course the title for this thread could be changed to include prints which might actually entice more people to post in it.  :-\
