Was he one of the artists for that title?
Val Mayerik did quite a bit of penciling for Marvel back in the '70s on characters such as Man-Thing, Monster Of Frankenstein, the Living Mummy, and Ka-Zar. He also co-created Howard The Duck with Steve "Baby" Gerber. His style was heavily influenced by Wrightson, at least for much of his Marvel work.

Original cover painting for Scary Monsters #39 by Terry Beatty:

Title Overlay Sheets:

I bought this back around 2003 from Dennis Druktenis. Bought a lot of SM stuff from Dennis over the years. I never bought the Sam Scare mask or the skateboard deck, but practically everything else Dennis sold through Scary Monsters ads in the back including lots of stuff from his "Scarehouse Sales". I have a full run of SM up to #100 including all of the Yearbooks (Monster Memories) and all of the limited editions, ashcans, reprint titles, and new Castle Of Frankenstein issues.

Same here, except for the ashcans. I just got the missing/elusive MM 2009 YB! Been trying to get a copy for years!

What want to know, is there a SM Summer Special #3? When SS #4 came out I thought, what happened to # 1-3? The they started calling #27.5 and #50.5 Summer Specials #1 & 2, but I've still never seen a SS #3.

Yes. I have a copy. It came out in 2008. I was going to post a pic of it but strangely I couldn't find a pic on the interwebbings.  :o

Maybe I'll post a pic of mine if no hot-link fodder presents itself.  :-\

I've been looking for years (well, not ever day) and haven't seen a mention of it, let alone a photo! There's no other 1 & 2, besides the ones I mentioned, right?

I'm pretty sure you're right about that. In my boxes I have the #27.5 and the #50.5 in order before the #3 and the #4. Some of the numbering got confusing on those books and it only gets worse several years later when you haven't thought about it for awhile.

I've been posting again fairly regularly for a few days so I've given UMA some time to get a feel for it again. Well, here's my feeling about it- It's deader than hell! When I first started posting on UMA around 8 years ago there were just enough people posting to keep things interesting without being overcrowded and problematic due to an overabundance of jerks. UMA members also supported other member's posts and threads with comments and other related posts. Now there is an extremely small amount of members who even post anything, and there is little to no commentary or complimentary posts to support what few posts there are. There is still a little traffic, and I mean very little. I'll probably continue to post on and off, but in this environment it's discouraging. There are usually a crapload of lurkers who like to take advantage of what's posted, but evidently contribute little to nothing. No wonder not many people actually contribute anymore...there's very little new to see, because so few people contribute anymore::) A message board without people who actually post something is lame, and this one's practically on life support. That's my take. No reflection on you, Mike. You do a good job as moderator and you're one of the few people who actually posts things of any substance. I guess UMA's best days are just gone.  :(

What happened? Did I miss something?

I don't find that to be true. People are always commenting on somebody else's posts. Not every topic is something I'm interested in, though.

Not really. There isn't much to miss.

I was just making a general statement about my perception of the current state of UMA.

That's great for you if you feel that way.

For me, UMA is a pale shadow of what it used to be. There are constantly over 100 "Guests" picking the UMA bones for entertainment or info to make a buck on with junk they're trying to sell, and most of them never contribute anything. Check the numbers. It's always 100+ vultures, I mean "guests", and almost always less than half a dozen people actually logged in who may or may not actually post something.

Have fun. Maybe I'll post off and on. Maybe I'll just go back to being an occasional vulture. It doesn't matter anyway. Posting on UMA is like shouting in canyon...you just get an empty echo.

I have a bunch of Creature original art, but photobucket really messed me up.  i'd have to retake all the photos.

Seems like the few people who bother to post on UMA these days aren't much into original art. Surely some members have some originals in their collections they'll share with us at some point.

I can tell you that skully reads this thread with avid interest. He also has all kinds of original art.Unfortunately he's not been able to log onto this sie. Nor is he sufficiently adept technologically to load pictures onto his harddrive let alone post them onto this board.

He's now at the point where he's almost desperate enough to ask his son for assistance.

I'll bet he taught his son how to drive (amongst other things). Why can't the kid return the favor?

YO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Hep, and Mike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Don't ask me what I did,  because I still don't know,  but,  I'm back in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   At least,  for the time being!!!  I was determined as all hell to try just about anything,  I kept trying to bypass those warning boxes,  and finally with enough times doing it, or maybe something else I did,  it finally,  finally took!!!  So I hope I can at least post replies,  posting pictures is something else though,  hopefully my son will help when he finds the time.
