Show us original art pieces in your collection!

I'll start us off with a drawing done by Terry Beatty for the cover of Scary Monsters 2002 Yearbook (Monster Memories #10).

The title overlay sheets (folded in half- the bottoms are blank):

I believe it's pen & ink on board, then hand colored. I bought this from Dennis Druktenis back around 2003. I love Creepy #1 homage covers and this is one of my favorites.

That's cool stuff, horrorhunter.
I don't have the connections or finances to go after high end pieces. I do have some cover art
but it's just from fanzines and unworthy of inclusion here. I have a photo/art mock-up that was
used under the end credits of a TV show. Does that qualify?

'Fun topic, I hope it sees lots of action.

That's a beautiful piece, Sir Masksalot.

Any genre original art qualifies- fanzine art, comic book art, monster mag art, convention sketches, personal commissions, advertising art, etc..

This is all about the fun of showing cool art with no worries about current market values at all. Some of my favorite pieces I bought for $20 or less. I don't own anything high end, and I'm not spending a fortune on anything like that anytime soon. Hopefully we'll get several posts from UMA members and we can get an idea of what sorts of art they're collecting along with their other genre items.

Here's an illustration of Cynthia from DC's The Witching Hour by Newton Burcham.

I love the Bronze Age Horror from all comic companies. Just need issues 28, 63, and 66, to finally complete my Witching Hour run.  :)

This is a Dracula page by Butch Guice (Jackson Guice when he worked for Marvel).

Butch and I were members of the same comic book collecting club in Chattanooga in the late '70s. I bought this from him during one of our trading sessions where we bought and sold back issues and anything related to comics. This is labeled "Page # one" so it was probably a splash page for a fanzine story (I'm not sure if it was published). It was obviously influenced by Marvel's Tomb Of Dracula which was still being published and very popular at the time. Not long after this Butch started working for Marvel and drew for them for a number of years on different titles.

My little collection of Tiki Horror Lounge figures by Gary Wray:

These are all original, one-of-a-kind figures so they have a place in the thread. The figure on the far left is Gary's interpretation of the Beast Of Blood (aka Chlorophyll Monster) from the Blood Island flicks. The hairy little guy on the far right is the Tiki Horror Lounge version of Paul Naschy's werewolf, Waldemar Daninsky. I have one other Tiki Horror Lounge figure that I used to represent the idol of the Dark God Agrezehl for a custom playset.

A painting of Marvel's Man-Thing by Val Mayerik in green and gray wash:

Val Mayerik did quite a bit of penciling for Marvel back in the '70s on characters such as Man-Thing, Monster Of Frankenstein, the Living Mummy, and Ka-Zar. He also co-created Howard The Duck with Steve "Baby" Gerber. His style was heavily influenced by Wrightson.

Creature painting by Robert Brown:

This is acrylics on canvas done in the style of a wraparound magazine cover. Robert drew comics for Marvel and Chaos back in the '90s. I visited him for awhile when he lived near me and we talked monsters and comics a few times. I dug some of his monster paintings when he started that using acrylics on canvas, and I hired him to do this painting since I'm a Creature nut.

I approve of the "artistic license" Mr Brown took: at last, Miss Lawrence looks sufficiently terrified.

Nice acquisition!  :)
Yeah, I'm glad I got him to do it when the opportunity presented itself. Shortly thereafter he had a falling-out with the person who introduced us and Robert took off to parts unknown. He did a 1-shot comic called Bane Of The Werewolf, and a story or two for Bela Lugosi's Tales From The Grave. I have several of his sketches and page layouts which I may post in this thread at some point.

Seems like the few people who bother to post on UMA these days aren't much into original art. Surely some members have some originals in their collections they'll share with us at some point.

This is just a general observation not pertaining specifically to this thread, but it seems like more people have complained about the lack of posts than actually do the posting. Someone has to go to the trouble to post it before everyone else can enjoy reading or looking at it- or find fault with it as the case may be.   I understand posting pics on UMA requires some hoop-jumping, but posting insightful thought provoking text is simply typing. The best way to add to everyone's infotainment is just to post...something. Lurking ain't helping anyone except the lurker.
