Here are scans from my 1980 Creature Features set:

The You'll Die Laughing/Creature Features (1980) set really is very nice. It's also still very affordable which makes it a good jumping on point for monster trading card collectors who wish to start collecting some of the older sets. Those stickers are way cool, as are the wrappers.  8)

Completely agree, cards don't have to be old to be cool.

Some people don't like the frames on the cards, but they do make them instantly recognizable. Great sticker set and 4 different wrappers! What's not to like!

I much prefer the 1980 to the 1973 Creature Feature set precisely because of the frames!

Leaf released these wild Awesome All-Stars cards in 1988:

Some came with snazzy puzzle backs:

A total of 99 different fronts were available. Cards 1-71 came with text on the backs while cards 72-99 had puzzle backs. Another 28 of the cards in the 14-53 range were also printed with puzzle backs,

They came in three different wrappers:

Here are scans of some of my Baseballs' Greatest Grossouts cards that Leaf issued in 1988 following up on the Awesome All-Stars cards:

The set consists of 88 different cards all available with text on the back. Of these 88, a total of 36 were also printed with puzzle backs.

Here are scans of the wrappers in which these cards were issued:

I didn't think they were still doing the Ed Roth style of cartoons in the '80s. Now, it's all popular, again (or should that be still?).

Here's another small, obscure set. These came one in every box of "Weeties" cereal in Australia in 1982. 12 cards to the set. I've seen 8 of the cards and half of those were psychedelically colorized movie monster photos and the other half had the same images that were used on Roach iron-ons, like the Creature one below. The cards had a sticker on one side and the  same image as a card on the other.

Not trading cards, but still monster cards. New, I guess. A B/W set and a LE color set.

Hammer Horror Series 1 (Strictly Ink, 2008) featured 10 Autograph Cards. Scans of six of the ten are posted below. Only four more to go.

Good goin', buddy. Those are beauties! You have one hell of a collection, my friend.

Very scarce are the Terror Cards XL "Death Edition" series. These were made by Necroscope in 2005/2006 and feature all Autograph Cards. I finally landed the Ben Chapman below off evilBay. I scanned it while still in the penny sleeve inside the top loader which is where the dust particles are (and oh so magnified against the black card with the blown up scan of the single card). Next time I think I'll remove the card before scanning it. Anyway, I'm happy to have a good Ben Chapman autograph on a card featuring my favorite movie.  :)

Thanks, Mord. I still have some climbing to do on the mountain that is the different Hammer Horror sets with all the different chase cards. I plan to eventually have them all except most of the many sketch cards from the 2008 and 2010 sets. I'll get what sketch cards I can, but there are several and the good ones are very expensive and hard to find. I'll be content with all of the Autograph Cards and other chase cards and base sets, but it seems damn near impossible to get all of the sketch cards. To be honest most of the sketch cards aren't all that good anyway, but I've seen some that are very good...and bearing a heavy price tag.

"Big Daddy" Roth was indeed nearly forgotten in mainstream culture by the eighties. Only the odd eccentric/iconoclast such as myself still had fond memories of Roth model kits and T-shirts from childhood days.

It was actually the Kenner toy company though that revitalized his memory in 1990 with the release of the "Big Daddy" Roth Rad Rods. Here are the three I have:

Revell then began reissuing the "Big Daddy" Roth model kits which quickly led to diecast models, pogs, trading cards, books and even films:

His designs and memory are now once again a part of beat and hipster culture.

You Slay Me (Imagine, Inc., 1992) is a cool trading card set homage to the classic 1959 You'll Die Laughing cards by the great Jack Davis. Sold either as a 60 card base set or a 63 card deluxe set with 3 Autograph Cards. I ordered my base set from Tim Ferrente who, being a very nice chap, included his Autograph Card as a bonus. Thanks, Tim.
