Ah, but Quentin spelled his INGLORIOUS BASTERDS. I think that says it all. Amazing fellow.

[Actually I kind of enjoyed IB, but that's not the issue]

I enjoyed it as  well.  I was unaware of a film with a similar name made back in the 60's when I saw it, the name was spelled differently, and I can't recall the film even promoted as a remake of anything.  Maybe a tribute to spaghetti war films (Like Spaghetti westerns, filmed in Europe with maybe an American or two cast member), but definitely not a remake.

Some new news regarding the pilot is now online and not all of it is bad.  Concept art has been posted of the house's exterior, which looks good.  Other concept art depicts Lily and Grandpa's look.  Lily looks pretty good and it appears she'll wear different outfits.  The pilot starts shooting in June.

Bryan Fuller says the show will be an "American Harry Potter".  It will be edgier than the original but will be a series for the whole family to watch.  He also wants more monsters in it.

Why do these remakes always have to be "edgier?" It's a bit of a redundant question because I undertsand that it's for the supposedly hipper audiences of the 21st century. Instead of going for edgy (sex, sexual innuendo, sex jokes, etc), how about going for quality? Humor? Maybe hire some real writers who know how to develop comedy from characterizations and situations instead of punchline after punchline.  I can see it now. This week's episode: Herman asks Grandpa to work on a super-Viagra tablet with hilarious results. Next week: Lily and Herman join a social club to fit in, but discover that it's actually a group of swingers. This has been tried many times before and this attempt will be doomed to failure as well. Eddie Izzard as Grandpa? The mind boggles.

I'll give it a chance but if, at any point, Herman "raps", I'm done with it.

Even if it's made for TV, the price of admission may still be too high.

What I want to know is who is going to play Dr. Dudley?

"We want this show to be an American Harry Potter," writer-producer Fuller recently told EW. "To have that sense of a magical world that you get to go to with your family and find stories told in a fantastical way that are instantly relatable. It's an American Horror Story that the whole family can watch."

What happened to "edgier and darker?"

Does anyone at NBC know what they are doing?

An American Harry Potter . . .Sure!  They want the money Harry Potter brought in, but are they willing to do something creative to earn those bucks?

Sheesh!  There goes the neighborhood. ::)

If they want an "American Harry Potter", then why "The Munsters"?  How do you get a parody of a school system, with supernatural elements, out of a 1960's style family sitcom that had supernatural elements?  This is like attempting to take "Gilligans Island", and saying you want to remake it, and make it into the new Titanic.

In other words, "we want a cash cow we can milk for years with little effort or thought."

edit:  Oops, sorry Fester!  I see you already "went there"!  :)

OOOOH! I hope they all have wands!!!  :o

With a healthy dose of skepticism, I'll give it a shot.  Can't be worse than most of what's on TV, because it has monsters in it.  As long as they don't sparkle, we're good.
