I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

I rather enjoy the summer, instead of thinking about October....although I am pumped up for the walking dead again  >:D

I live in one of those narrow-minded regions of the South where Halloween has been demonized by the churches as a celebration of Satan. So, not much to do here. The churches have Harvest or Fall Festivals. A few towns have Haunted Trails, Haunted Campgrounds, and such. We never get trick-or-treaters, though, so I just start throwing horror movies at random in the DVD player.

Travel 20 minutes East, into the heart of Billy Graham's world headquarters, though, and Charlotte knows how to party. All month long, Carowinds Amusement Park turns into Scarowinds. And there's a costume parade in Uptown.

Does it really ever end for any of us? All I have to do is look around my house, and I'm reminded about it every day.

Because my mother's blind in one eye and wears reading glasses for the other, I always buy her those LARGE PRINT calendars. This year, I noticed that on October 31st, there's no mention of Halloween. Every other holiday, up to and including "Administrative Professionals Day" (formerly known as "Secretaries Day"), is clearly spelled out. But on Oct. 31st, all there is in the block is the silhouette of a pumpkin, not even a centimeter tall. The calendar is published by Joyfully Yours, a division of DaySpring Cards (www.dayspring.com). I emailed DaySpring to ask what their bias against Halloween was. I never received a reply. I'll be boycotting their products from now on. I encourage my fellow Halloween celibrators to do likewise.

Aww man... Count Z, when you said you lived in the south, I thought you might be closer to "my south". But I am no where near S.C., but you're still invited to Killa Rica, Ga. on Oct. 31st and you can celebrate your skin off with my family  :)   I have a countdown app on my phone that tells me how many days till the big day. I get a kick out of watching it dwindle down each year. Also, I'm pumped up for Walpurgisnacht!  TOMORROW!!!!  YAY!!

All I have to do is look at their website, and I can clearly see the bias they have against our holiday.   ;)

This is why I can't stand the Republicans (conservatives) from the so-called Bible Belt. I believe in God, and attend church every Sunday, but what's wrong with having a little fun at  Halloween. It's the only holiday I know of, that you can knock on a stranger's door, and not have them call the cops on you. These people need to chill out.

I mean, really, you're publishing a calendar. The holiday has existed, in its current form, for around 250-300 years. Yet, you can't print the word "Halloween"? They can print "Yom Kipur," a holiday that, the last time I checked, ultra-conservative Christians don't celebrate, either.

Oh well, at least we don't live in the days when Halloween was outright banned in certain areas. Yet!

There's nothing wrong with it, which is why many conservatives from the South throw some pretty happenin' Halloween parties.

Let's not drag politics, religion or ignorant stereotypes into our discussion of the happiest time of the year!  :)

As one who was swiped unjustly by that broad brush, I couldn't agree more.

I think it's ignorant to say my post is ignorant. I was stating how I felt. You know, I as in me, myself and I. If you don't fall into that group, why do you feel the need to defend them? I'm half Irish, and I've heard all the comments over the years about how much the Irish drink. I could care less, people can say whatever they want to. I don't drink, so it doesn't pertain to me. If it makes you happier, I can't stand the liberal Democrats who don't celebrate Halloween either.
