OK  breathing new live to a really old thread from the  Yahoo days, there seems to be a lot of people with cats and other critters in here so here is a thread for them.

Here are a couple of mine

Halloween Jack-o-lantern Pumpkinsauce

Fluffy the tarantula

Buddy the Argentine Tegu

Pandora the 20' reticulated Python

OK buddy is now hanging out at the facility and not at home anymore since we got Halloween and Pandora is a permenant resident at the facillity  with the rest of the herps.

Welcome, Fellow reptile man! Be careful showing off Pandora. I used to have a red-tailed boa and when the baby was born, some nosey so and so called CPS and they came, told me my rights didn't impress them, terrorized my wife while I was at work and threatened to take our baby while she was in the hospital after being born prematurely if I didn't move him out of the house to a friend's house. Over there, he died. I took down my american flag that day and will never raise it again. I will never forgive the harpy who did this, the rat who called her and the gov't that allowed people like that to be in positions of authority. But now, we have Hannibal, our family's ball python.

Earlier today at 3:00 pm, I had to put my best friend Tabitha down.  Cancerous growth started developing on her stomach a couple weeks ago, but the last two days she has been barely able to walk.  Part of me went with her.

I'm so sorry and unfortunately know how you feel ... R.I.P. Tabitha ...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Very sad. I've had the experience myself. It's devastating.

Sorry to hear that, Bill - how old was she?  She sure was pretty.

Thanks everyone.  UP, Tabby was 14 years old, so I did get to spend a long time with her.  Doesn't make it any easier though.  Flower your post made me feel somewhat better, thanks for the thoughts.

HER NAME IS CHARCOAL: Another tale of a rescue kitty:

If you are familiar with my other cat (Sylvester a.k.a. "Moomees"), then you know his story of rescue. Rescue kitties are becoming a family trend. At the little country church we attend, someone left a small paper box on the back door. Within it lay a small kitten. She weighed a whopping 1 lb. Her tail had been attempted to be cut off by what the vet said appears to be a cigar cutter. It was infected and in danger of having to be amputated if left unchecked. Her little eyes were matted shut, and we thought perhaps she may be blind. She was covered in fleas and dried blood, malnourished, skeletal, and filthy. She had a mark on her back that appeared to have came from having scalding water thrown on her. You cannot make this stuff up, and its unbelieveable that someone would torture a defenseless animal in this way. When we broguht her in from the rain---one of the ladies at the church said the cat needed help, and she would help with the vet bills if someone would adopt her and give her a chance at life. Within seconds of her having asked for someone to adopt her---she shouted "Thank you so much!" as she had found a voulnteer.

It was my 16 year old son who was literally fighting back tears at the state of this poor little creature. We have now had her three weeks. She isnt blind, she has no more parasites, shes clean as a whistle, and the scalding has healed up nicely. She is still taking antibiotics for her tail (but its coming along great), and she is the most loving "people person" cat I have ever seen. She now weighs 1.9 lbs. Here she is. Our newest family member for years to come; Charcoal. Almost entirely black save for some ahsen hi-lites and a great little kitty who is now thriving!

I'm in tears .. both horror and joy.

Oh what a sweet little kitty! Your son sounds like a wonderful young man, Anton.  I can't bear to watch shows with sick or injured animals that are victims of sub- "humans" that have done horrible things to these defenseless creatures. It really makes you lose hope sometimes, but then......I read a story like yours and I tear up with happy tears  :)
Charcoal has a very special human family and will be a safe little kitten from the day you rescued her.  Thank you for being so kind. She is a real beauty, too!

She's got the cutest eyes. Whatever abuses she suffered, they obviously happened outdoors. When I took her to the vet I carried her. She shook the minute I took her outside the confines of the house and she put her head up my short sleeved shirt's left arm hole in order to feel safe. She's a spunky little thing too. She craves the companionship of the family so much she literally follows me or Tyler all around the house. I had to take a bath the other day and her little paws came sliding under the door and she was meowing after me. I unlocked the door and let her in---and she sat at the edge of the tub and waited for me to get out. My other cat (who is now approaching the 40 lb mark due to a thyroid problem he has) is amazingly gentle and good natured towards gher. He sits there and lets her bite his ears and tail and just kind of watches her tire herself out. Its weird because we thought we might encounter territorial  issues with him---but no such thing occurred. We are glad to have her.

Hey Anton

We have been cat rescuers for 30 years now and have save many kitty's from prob biting the dust.

Two dogs as well now.

KUDO's for anyone doing anything to help our 4 legged friends out. The wife and I would have a full blown shelter if we had the resources so thanks to everyone that is into this. :) 8) 8)

Well, here's my addition to the roster. His name's Ignatz, and he's a gray Tabby with green eyes. He'll be 11 years old this coming Sunday. He was part of a litter born to a couple who used to own a coffee & bagel shop here in town. (It failed; there's a Chinese take-out place there now.) They were moving to a new apartment that didn't allow pets, so they had to give away the kittens and their mother. We took this one, over an all-black male, and two mostly white males with gray patches on their foreheads. Last time I was in the shop before it closed, they told me they had managed to find homes for all the cats before they moved.

Ignatz actually helped save my life, literally. Two weeks before Thanksgiving 2000, my blood pressure was 190/100, even on meds. They decided to hospitalize me. Two days before I went in, my 12-year-old, all-white domestic shorthair, Chloe, succumbed to breast cancer. I was devastated. They got my BP down through I.V. meds, but I started having panic attacks at home. I used to have them so bad I'd have to drive to Wal-Mart at 3AM just to calm down. Then, I saw the "free kittens to good homes" sign at the bagel shop. We picked him up the Monday after Thanksgiving. NO MORE PANIC ATTACKS, surprize, surprize!
