Where I currently live in Gaston County, NC, there are supposedly numerous haunted sites, including the old Gaston County Courthouse. There are also rumors of a strange, eerie creature that pops up in various locations, called a High School Graduate. They say it does weird, other-worldly things, like read things to itself without moving its lips, take less than fifteen minutes to make a single transaction at an ATM machine, and order from a menu at a restaurant instead of leaving it closed and just asking if they have this or that! I've yet to encounter one of these bizarre creatures, though. Maybe it's because I doubt their existence?

Yea, around here they have these creatures called college graduates that take elder people and make them into slaves. They even respond to the word BOSS!!! Weird huh?  ;D

seed_murda, that Robert the doll has always freaked me out.  Evil kids toys are just plain wrong.  There's also an Annabell doll that is demon possessed and dangerous.

That's why I like reading these kinds of stories. Never know where you're going to find good story fodder.

Great stories. And yes I believe our 4 legged friends move on from here. Sometimes they hang around for awhile as well. Over the years we have had 8 cats and a dog pass on. With half of the cats ,shortly after passing on , we would be doing dishes or doing something around the house and suddenly it feels like something rubbing around our ankles or stretching up and touching the top of the leg. We would look down expecting to see one of our other cats only to see nothing and the other cats sleeping in another room. Also back in August of 09' we had to let our Chow Chow Little Bear move on due to crippling health issues. Over the next few days at different times we both heard her nails clacking on the tile floor and both heard her bang on the patio door to be let in a couple times each. Also the day after she passed I came home from work depressed. She would not be there to greet me after work.
I walked in the door and our cat Blue who we had got a couple months before came running down the stairs and greeted me just like LB would have and over the next few days took on some of LB's habits and mannerisms.

You spent 8 hours with it?  In a well-lit room?  Where was this room and what were you doing at the time?

I was in the Living room of my house trying to unwind from the day
a couple of hours before sundown is when he started on me
it seems that he feeds on fear. maybe not, but I fed him plenty
I've told this story to many people and My whole body tingles everytime I tell it !!!
He would never let me see him all the way he would run off into the wall
then he tricked me and he did not run just stood there in the doorway looking at me
My eyes were fixed on him I could'nt believe what I was looking at. I did'nt want to look anymore
so I turned my head away and then looked back and he was gone again but knew he was still there
Finally I got in the bed and covered my head with a pillow I did'nt come out until the next day

I have a friend who swears when he was only 7 or 8 years old, that a small, black, inky darkness in the form of a child, tormented him off & on one summer!  He was staying at his Grandfather's farmhouse, way out in the country, that year.  Nobody believed him - except his Grandfather.

I had a dog named Otto, who's mother was a rottweiler & his father, a shadow in the night.  He died of natural causes on Halloween Night in 1998 - My kids & I vividly remember burying him in the backyard of our old house.  We had actually just moved into a big ol' drafty house, but still owned our old one.  Liz was in California with her Mom on a business trip.  It was very surrealistic - My son & his friend were just 14 at the time and my daughter was only 7.  She desperately wanted to be there for the "ceremony", so I let her.
After the kids went trick or treating, went back home and settled in for the rainy evening.  They finally fell asleep after watching a couple of old monster movies.  I sipped some bourbon and retired to bed.  So, here I was on Halloween, late at night, after just burying my beloved Otto.  In a big bed by myself.
I woke up around 3 a.m.  I thought I heard claws clacking on the concrete floor in the basement, followed a few minutes later by the feeling of Otto beside the bed, on the floor.  It suddenly occurred to me that he had died earlier in the evening.  It wasn't scary - just a little sad...  and I dozed back off in a few minutes.
I hadn't "dreamed" it, that's for sure - I seriously don't know if it was just a very intense feeling of loss or if Otto had come by to say goodbye one last time.

I'm a sucker for pet stories.  I react the same way when losing a family pet as a family human.

Some of my pets have been better family members than the humans I'm related to! But, they still get the backyard burials...right next to the cats and dogs!

You bury your human relatives in the backyard next to the cats and dogs?

I had an encounter with a shadow person a few years back. My sister wanted me to go house hunting with her and we went to a particular home in a nearby seaside town. This house was once a summer dwelling that had been somewhat refurbished to become a full time residence. It had an odd feeling to it, what with there being pictures of long-dead people on the walls and saved clippings of obituaries of family members under glass.

The upstairs area was the most done over, with a bathroom added as well as several small bedrooms. One bedroom ,in particular, had a large window that overlooked the street. Upon entering this room, I was hit with an overwhelming feeling of choking that intensified as you approached the window. I left the room quickly thing that I was becoming ill. I located my sister who was looking at other rooms throughout the upstairs at the time and we talked about what the plusses and drawbacks to the house were. Before leaving, I decided to take another look at that particular room that had made me feel strange. As I entered again, I got halfway across before I was overcome with the feeling of choking again, only more intensely this time. Deciding that this was enough, I headed downstairs and we left the house.

On the way home in the car, we were talking about the rooms when my sister said that she felt there was something wrong with one of the upstairs bedrooms..I asked her why she said that and she said that she had a distinct impression of being choked in that room and that there was something still there! When I confirmed that I had the same feeling about the room, she said that it felt as though someone had died in that area and didnt pass away easily.

Several nights later, I had a dream that I was back at that place and feeling the same dreadful feeling again..this time I felt as though I were being strangled and I could make out someone with a black shape grabbing at me. It was so disturbing that I woke up..as I did so, I saw my cat, standing next to me on the bed. He was bolt upright with back arched and staring at something that seemed to be annoying him. I looked at where he was staring and saw a shadow figure at the foot of my bed. I got the impression that this was connected to that house somehow, on a subconscious level. I found myself being both pissed off and stunned at the same time that this thing seemed to have followed me to my own home! I told it to go that it was not welcome here and began to recite a prayer aloud. It moved along the bed edge til it was almost near my chest area and disappeared. Upon it leaving, that cat continued to stare where it left for some time.

I was telling my sister this story a day later when she said that she had felt that something bad might come from that house and she had used Holy water and recited prayers the past few nights as a precaution after out encounter, but still had a nightmare regarding an entity from that house.

As far as I know the home didnt sell and was taken off of the market, to this day whenever I'm in that area, I drive pass the house and look up at that second floor window of that room. It still gives me the creeps, even from the outside.

Great story, M - pretty damn creepy, too!  Did you or your sister ever have anymore nightmares about the house?

Fortunately, no! But I have to say, it still gives me the creeps when I talk about it with anyone. :)
