That's spooky but kind of sweet too. Do pets have an afterlife? I can't remember the name of the book, but Stephen King wrote a delightful segment about a beloved dog (not Cujo I'm sure!) that had died and had woken up in a beautiful warm grassy field, full of rabbits to chase.

Then again, if there's some kind of glitch, will I wake there one day????  ;D
Supernatural, perhaps; baloney, perhaps not.

Not sure of a pet afterlife, but I sure remember seeing that dog's distinct face - it wasn't even like I was used to seeing him peering out from under our car, because I don't think Pepsi ever did that!  I'll just plain out, never forget it.  Spooked me a little, for sure.  I do recall keeping an eye out for his ghostly visage when I would take trash out to the garage late at night...

My brother had an encounter with a shadow figure once. He was asleep on the family bunk beds and something awakened him, and he saw a man in black looking through a photo-album on a music stand, and when he reached out, the figure vanished.  Same House, I saw a ghost once. Also, The Home I grew up was, and I kid you not, location to a Santa Claus siting, by me.  I was asleep in my living room when I was like 7 or 8, something like that,  And My mother and I slept in the living room that night because the house was cold elsewhere. I awakened early Christmas Morning to see a weighty figure dressed in red unloading a bag of toys. My Father was in Indiana, and my soon-to be Stepfather was too big to be who I saw, and My brothers were too small. My mom insists no one was let in that night.

I believe in the man in the red suit!!

PEPSI, The Ghost Dog

I was around 10-11 years old and a bunch of us kids were goofing off & playing around in the street.  It was close to eleven o'clock in the evening.  After our parents yelled for us to stay out of the street or get on the porch, I opted to hang out on my neighbors porch.  Directly across the street was my house, with a straight on view of our garage at the end of our driveway.  The garage door was open & I could barely see our two cars sitting there in the darkness.  The three kids I was hanging with jumped up and ran into their house to get some kool-aid or something.  I sat there on their porch & started staring into our garage, which was about a hundred or so feet from where I sat.  I began to make out a faint white spot, almost a glow, under one of our cars.  Even from that distance, I recognized it as Pepsi, my neighbor's dog.  He had a distinct white face, with a couple of small dark spots.  I called out to him several times, till my neighbor's old man came outside and asked me what I was doing.  I told him Pepsi was in our garage staring out from under our car.  He became a little shook up.  He was a big, rugged guy and it surprised me to see him like that.  He leaned over and said, "Mark, I found Pepsi, dead, yesterday morning - he'd been hit by a car."  He said he hadn't told his kids, yet, and asked me not to mention it to them.  He was slightly freaked out, but not as much as I was!  The kids eventually found out about the demise of their beloved pet - and I kept my word - till now...

Cool!! :D

That's a cool story Mark. I do think that dogs and cats have something going on -a soul of some kind. I base this not just on my feelings for pets but the experiences I had working as a veterinary assistant in college. We had to euthanize a lot of animals, and I'll never forget the first time I assisted. One minute, I was touching a living, breathing being -and the next, well, it might as well have been a rock. It was more than just the cessation of bodily functions -it's hard to explain, and I know it's all my perceptions, but it really felt like whatever made those animals individual beings with their own personalities had just fled the body. It was the same every single time we did it -one minute they were there, the next gone. No hard facts here but just my gut feeling.

Cool story Mark about Pepsi.  I hope animals have an after life, so I can see my Tabatha again.  Glad this thread is back.

You spent 8 hours with it?  In a well-lit room?  Where was this room and what were you doing at the time?

If any of you are into ghosts, I highly recommend this tour if you ever happen to make it to Key West. Me and my gf and brother and his gf went to this tour, and I honestly thought it was going to be stupid, but in fact it was very educational and a whole lot of fun. Never realized how many famous crazies were down there until the tour. The count and Robert the doll were quite crazy along with the killing tree. The idea for the Childs Play movie came from Robert the doll. Check it out.

Where I currently live in Gaston County, NC, there are supposedly numerous haunted sites, including the old Gaston County Courthouse. There are also rumors of a strange, eerie creature that pops up in various locations, called a High School Graduate. They say it does weird, other-worldly things, like read things to itself without moving its lips, take less than fifteen minutes to make a single transaction at an ATM machine, and order from a menu at a restaurant instead of leaving it closed and just asking if they have this or that! I've yet to encounter one of these bizarre creatures, though. Maybe it's because I doubt their existence?

Now, YOU are getting crazy!  The creatures you describe don't exist.  Maybe they once did, but they went extinct ages ago.

Count Z - They say there are photos of these, but they're always blurry.
