I was bidding on this, but I stopped 1/2 way thru, cuz it seemed like the head might have been a repurposed Wolfman pencil sharpener.
Is anyone familiar with this toy? The same or similar head sculpt?
???

Do your homework.  It's a good thing you didn't win, the manufacturer only ever made 3 characters,  a Frankenstein, a Dracula, and a skull head, the sculpt is very different with these particular heads on these cars.  Also, the car itself is a dark blue, wind-up mechanism key is located on the back of the car,  and they had metal "feet" on the bottom that made them move when wound, the painted eyes are very different looking also.  All 3 are scarce pieces.

Who was the manufacturer ? i tried looking thru the gallery, but couldnt find anything similar.I remember seeing a dracula version posted, but that was a long time ago.

Not sure of the company, possibly Yone, but not sure.  As mentioned, pretty scarce pieces, in my opinion the generic "skull" head is the scarcest one, but the Frank and Drac might be more popular, maybe do a bit more searching, the rubber heads on these are very different sculpts, very different from the usual monster nik heads or sharpeners.

I'm seeing more and more "repro" pieces and "put-together" items being listed all the time, that's why I never was keen on the idea of re-popping some of this monster stuff even though some collectors were ok with it just to obtain a fake scarce piece for their shelf.  Like I knew would eventually happen, it's now becoming problematic with certain items.

I love monsters driving cars.
If you want to view Paradise, simply look around and view it.

Except when you run into them for real during rush hour!

Mike Scott,  quick question for you.  Did I,  or did I not, when my son posted pictures years ago for me on here, did I get him to post the other car in this series, the skull?  I can't remember.

Mike,  thanks much for checking.  When I posted about this third one in this series, I believe someone posted that they turned up on E-bay, yet I have not seen the skull head car ever on E-bay, except that is,  when someone actually really did post a picture of it along with the Frankenstein one over 20 years ago in an E-bay auction.  He had them posted in Halloween items.  I found them by chance.  I saw that the seller was from nearby Hamburg, along Rt. 61,  about 20 miles away from me.  At that time you could still exchange phone numbers on E-bay and I called him up, this guy had a ton of stuff, the skull car, 2 Frankenstein cars, and boxes of obscure Halloween and monster items that he bought privately at the time from a woman who lived in the Allentown area.  When I arrived at his house, he had everything laid out on the living room floor, which he was eventually going to list.  When he saw my enthusiasm with the items, he stopped the E-bay auction before anyone actually bid.  I bought everything he had. Some of the boxes I haven't opened since I bought them.
