Astoundingly, it seems Mego is releasing a Creature FTBL figure plus...

Wow!  That really sucks.

Unfortunate combination of hard and soft elements.  Don't like the look at all.

Well, it's not like I don't have other Creatures wearing P.J.s. The sculpted parts are nice.

I was thinking someone might buy it for a miniature bust.

I assume you will get one.   But, if Creature figures were plentiful...  ?

Because of the money involved (particularly for some of the vintage items), I'm never going to run out of Creature things to buy.

Raymond Castile noted on Facebook that this appears to be just a reissue of the EMCE Creature and from what I can see, I agree. I looked at several pictures and I'm not sure if what we're seeing is a production sample or just an old EMCE figure. I have the EMCE figure, and I love it, but I'll have to wait and see how this run turns out.

In the link it says:
QuoteWave 9 Creature from the Black Lagoon, the first of hopefully many officially licensed Universal Monsters heading to stores this fall.

Is that referring to Mego figures or just merchandise generally? Based on the website I would think Mego's but I don't think I've heard of other Mego Universal Monsters.

This release looks to have soft goods fins sewn in at the seems, which would make sense given the lower price point. Other than that, head, hands, and feet are from the same sculpts and likely the same molds (again, makes sense given the lower price point). I would love it more had they gotten Sean Sansom to sculpt an open mouthed head (or, dare to dream, a "Revenge" head), but at $15 retail i get why the expense would be pointless.

Interestingly, it looks like the Bride and a Masque of the Red Death Phantom are up next, potentially before the end of the year. I'm excited for the impending Christopher Lee Dracula, myself.

Damn! That is the EMCE Creature!

A cheaper version using the same sculpts created by the guy who created the EMCE version, yes.

The EMCE Creature sells for quite a bit of money nowadays, so this new release from MEGO is a welcome release, especially for those of us who like to keep some of our items MIP/MOC.

I think it is beautiful looking figure, as is the EMCE version that it is obviously taken from. I love the combination of the cloth bodysuit and the plastic components. The cloth costume harkens back to how they made their product back in the 1970s, and I think it is entirely appropriate that they continue that tradition now.

With this release, I will now be able to remove the figure from the card without feeling guilty about opening my EMCE version, which I unfortunately missed when it was originally released and had to purchase off the secondary market.

That's why they make all different kinds of figures.

I hate it.  But it wasn't made for me.  I'm glad you like it and will benefit from it being made.  Enjoy.

You can pop those open and play with them and then pop them back in.

I like it. Since I already have the Emce though, any purchase is gonna be based on card art and if he is a solo act or the beginning of a series.
