You can pop those open and play with them and then pop them back in.

I tried to do this with my EMCE Creature but I find those clamshells impossible to open without slightly ruining them, even when following some youtube tutorials on it lol. I didn't really mind opening mine though as I picked it up around 6 months ago and it was £30 so not a crazy high price. I am glad to see the Mego will be releasing this figure though as it would be nice to keep that one on the card and also give my son one to play with as he also loves this figure.

You've got to remember the kids out there playing with these new Mego figures as they will probably the ones to keep the monster toys going in the future.

I'll gladly plop down $15 for another Universal monster figure, even if it is essentially a cheaper version of the EMCE figure.  My guess is that the next few Uni Monsters that Mego produces will be rehashes of the previous EMCEs with one or two "new" characters and sculpts.  Happy to see 'em though!

Interestingly, it looks like the Bride and a Masque of the Red Death Phantom are up next, potentially before the end of the year. I'm excited for the impending Christopher Lee Dracula, myself.

Yeah, they were lightly welded and you have to be careful, the first time. I didn't find it terribly difficult, though.

Mine was pretty stubborn but he really needed to be freed from his plastic tomb.

I did manage to keep the packaging and backing card so at least it's still in the house somewhere to create a reseal of sorts if I ever want to.
