Monarch had some cool plans in the works before they folded...any chance we might see those resurrected?  (Got to meet a couple of people from the company at WonderFest, back when they released Nosferatu.  One of them gave me a poster of the Nosferatu box art, which I should get framed.)

As belligerent as some folks have been towards Scott (feeling entitled, and saying he gave his word that stuff like "moon Suit" would get made before anything else) its probably not likely. That, and Cyclops (original concept kit), and The Fly are all that I was aware of that was in the works. We already know Fly is happening, now Konga. Dunno about the earlier stuff he was considering.

Thanks, Anton.  It was actually the Cyclops and Moonsuit I had in mind.  I've never had any belligerent feelings toward Scott; in business (especially a business like this that caters to a very specific audience), things happen.  (Heck, even in a mainstream business venture, the curve balls can come your way!)

QuoteYou know many/most of us aren't on Facebook because we regard facebook as the Evil Empire.

I thought that was eBay.  :o

It's mostly on social media. Big shocker, eh?

Well I've certainly never seen any belligerence toward Scott on UMA. Quite the contrary actually. And truthfully those other places don't count for diddly squat relative to UMA.

;)

If you're in touch with Scott, why don't you suggest he join UMA?

He may be a member here. I can't recall. I havent talked to him directly in a few years. I'm just in a group on FB that are fans of Monarch.

Monarch now has an official Facebook Page. Looks like maybe Konga will be the first release for 2021.

That Konga beats Aurora's King Kong hands down! In fact it's the best giant ape model kit I've ever encountered.

Konga looks rad!
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

The Konga pics have disappeared. Does this indicate that the Monarch project to release a Konga kit has been shelved?

The Monsters In Motion website listed the moon suit, saying it was limited to 500 pieces.  (The listing does mention Monarch in an obscure place.)  The listing is still on their site, but marked "Sold Out."  Did the kit actually come out, or is that listing in error?

For what it's worth, the kit is still listed as available for pre-order over at the Cult TV Man site:  https://www.culttvmanshop.com/PREORDER--Konga--135-scale-from-Monarch-Models-Price-TBA--PREORDER-RESERVATION-_p_6570.html

I don't think Moonsuit saw the light of day. Konga is still a go from all chatter/intel. When is anyone's guess. No idea why the pic links died. Maybe FB did it.

You have no idea? You should know by now that Facebook invariably breaks links, and usually sooner rather than later. Don't hotlink to Facebook.

Just noticed the Konga kit online the other day. It's quite a nice diorama. And I like an alt universe in which good old Sandra skips being devoured by the cannibal plant, the better to be a surviving witness to lechy Dr Decker's rightful fate. Alas, poor Margaret...

But I feel Monarch really blew it on one count: the opportunity to faithfully depict Konga per the classic George Barrows "monster gorilla" suit that was used, with its uniquely creepy face, 6-pack, & hairy skirt. Without that, IMO, Konga's not Konga. This gorilla looks more like Mighty Peking Man, eek.

I was on the plant's side myself.

Hmmmmm. Does Konga look right to you in these movie posters for the American International Pictures 1961 movie release?

How about Steve Ditko's renderings for Charlton?

Ditko always maintained that Konga himself posed for the pictures he drew.
