Scott McKillop and Monarch have returned with a fantastic treat...a fully restored professionally printed Aurora Monsters of the Movies Wolf Man box!
Only 100 will be offered...they are $20 each. Contact Scott through Facebook to reserve yours! If it sells well, more MOTM boxes will follow!
Scott also hinted at a possible reissue of the MOTM Wolf Man in Styrene!!
Show him you're interested! GO!!
This is great news. This was one of my favorite models as a 5 year old kid!
That is great news for a lot of collectors, as most people know the Wolfman is the only one not to be repopped. I have two originals w/boxes but I'm still interested.
Awesome!!

Monarch 2021 Plans:

Monarch had some cool plans in the works before they folded...any chance we might see those resurrected? (Got to meet a couple of people from the company at WonderFest, back when they released Nosferatu. One of them gave me a poster of the Nosferatu box art, which I should get framed.)
As belligerent as some folks have been towards Scott (feeling entitled, and saying he gave his word that stuff like "moon Suit" would get made before anything else) its probably not likely. That, and Cyclops (original concept kit), and The Fly are all that I was aware of that was in the works. We already know Fly is happening, now Konga. Dunno about the earlier stuff he was considering.
Thanks, Anton. It was actually the Cyclops and Moonsuit I had in mind. I've never had any belligerent feelings toward Scott; in business (especially a business like this that caters to a very specific audience), things happen. (Heck, even in a mainstream business venture, the curve balls can come your way!)

Well I've certainly never seen any belligerence toward Scott on UMA. Quite the contrary actually. And truthfully those other places don't count for diddly squat relative to UMA.
;)
If you're in touch with Scott, why don't you suggest he join UMA?
???
He may be a member here. I can't recall. I havent talked to him directly in a few years. I'm just in a group on FB that are fans of Monarch.
Monarch now has an official Facebook Page. Looks like maybe Konga will be the first release for 2021.

That Konga beats Aurora's King Kong hands down! In fact it's the best giant ape model kit I've ever encountered.

Konga looks rad!
The Konga pics have disappeared. Does this indicate that the Monarch project to release a Konga kit has been shelved?
???
Quotehe gave his word that stuff like "moon Suit" would get made before anything else
The Monsters In Motion website listed the moon suit, saying it was limited to 500 pieces. (The listing does mention Monarch in an obscure place.) The listing is still on their site, but marked "Sold Out." Did the kit actually come out, or is that listing in error?

I don't think Moonsuit saw the light of day. Konga is still a go from all chatter/intel. When is anyone's guess. No idea why the pic links died. Maybe FB did it.
You have no idea? You should know by now that Facebook invariably breaks links, and usually sooner rather than later. Don't hotlink to Facebook.

Just noticed the Konga kit online the other day. It's quite a nice diorama. And I like an alt universe in which good old Sandra skips being devoured by the cannibal plant, the better to be a surviving witness to lechy Dr Decker's rightful fate. Alas, poor Margaret...
But I feel Monarch really blew it on one count: the opportunity to faithfully depict Konga per the classic George Barrows "monster gorilla" suit that was used, with its uniquely creepy face, 6-pack, & hairy skirt. Without that, IMO, Konga's not Konga. This gorilla looks more like Mighty Peking Man, eek.

Ditko always maintained that Konga himself posed for the pictures he drew.

Well, it's not quite down to that question of literalness. It's more a question of paying homage to an arguably classic piece of monster craftsmanship.
Should a model of KING KONG look like Marcel Delgado's brilliantly styled stop-mo puppet, or should it look like the various cool, generic hairy monsters from the 1933 ad art? In this case, this new model was a missed chance to depict the venerable, distinctive Barrows suit -- for the 1st time -- in what is probably its best-known showcase. A shame, because in general the model looks swell.

The face sculpt of the Monarch model actually looks very much like that of Konga on the movie posters:

I agree. And I have to give kudos to Monarch for issuing (I hope anyway) a styrene kit of another previously overlooked film star. Gorgo needs a ring partner!

It's probably the most over-the-top of all the Herman Cohen/Michael Gough outings (which is saying a lot!) All of those are entertaining, just not always in the way intended. ;)
And then there's that snap-together kit from the Seventies of the 1976 KING KONG straddling the Twin Towers. Doesn't look like what we see in the film or in the poster....
The Fly has beaten Konga or anything else out of the gates, and onto our shores, and he is creating qute a "buzz" ;D ;).
After many years, set backs, and even going out of business for a spell: Monarch is back.

I must admit I was a tad disappointed that the original long box homage design from Aurora's hey day couldn't be continued (due to rising costs of everything ,I suppose). This kit is $60 ish bucks without that feature. I imagine it would've been closer to 75 or 80 with the long box and shrinkwrap.
Fortunately, I secured a sample box from Monarch's original plan for the kit from Scott, shortly before they originally shuttered. I can always take the parts and....transport them.... from one box to the other. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm with you. I would have preferred the original long box design as well. I don't understand though why a box with a slightly different shape would have added a whopping $15-$20 to the price of the kit.

I'm speculating there, but hear me out. Freight is sky high. I know he had the kits sealed in the baggies sent to him in Canada from China. I am thinking he had the boxes printed in his area. Gas prices, shipping prices, and even paper prices have gone through the roof. I also know the finished kit pictured isn't shrink wrapped, but rather held with a tape seal.
I was never a fan of the square boxes. Love the long boxes. Can't understand why square boxes would be cheaper to make and ship. Atlantis is releasing some kits in square boxes and some in long boxes. Same price I believe.
Did you look at the unboxing video? The box it is packaged in is kind of flimsy. He may have made them up himself. Monarch is a labor of love more than an industry. This, plus no shrinkwrap, has me more or less convinced its related to cost.
Ahhhhh....flimsy boxes - sure hope they arrive undamaged.
Perhaps he should work with another company like Atlantis. But in the long run, it's really the model itself that counts, and they do make some cool kits.
Won a bid on eBay for a professionally painted build up of The Fly. It will immediately go into the display case next to all the other B-movie monster kits. Not a fan of the square box, so I can do without it.

Maybe the bigger box for the fly was used to accommodate the parts and sprues?
I'm really diggin that Fly model kit. I want one for sure, and maybe another to put together.
