Does your firm ever offer fixed price items...or is everything always a bloody auction, lol?

As we are an auction house, we tend to focus on promoting items from whatever auction is current. That being said, we do have thousands of fixed priced items available for sale 24/7 from hundreds of collecting categories, all available at the link Mike Scott provided above. Happy hunting!

Here's another rare 1960s monster-related item being offered in the current Hake's Americana & Collectibles auction - a boxed Mad Mad Mad Scientist Laboratory set! While the box bottom does have condition issues, this is only the second example we've offered in our 49 years. Check it out! Gotta love those lid graphics.

This is a strange example in that it has a generic green insert- this is probably a later company/thrown-together set with less included.

See in the UMA photo in the gallery...the nicer version of the MAD MAD MAD SCIENTIST LABORATORY pictured there has "Monster" graphics all over the insert cardboard.

This Hake's set also has less "goodies" in it altogether, and those that are there are fewer in number and more generic in look.

Reminds me of a set Bill "Toy Scouts" Bruegman had a number of years ago that he called a "mail order" version (as I recall), but that opinion is unfounded.

This being a mail order variety does seem to be a likely scenario given the differences.

Hmmmm. Or an economy version sold through discount stores at a lower price point. The one I had as a kid was the one pictured here in this other thread:

Bidding in the current Hake's Americana & Collectibles auction begins closing today, starting at 12 Noon (Eastern Time). Don't miss out, there's some great monster items to be had!

Take this original Japanese B2 movie poster for King Kong vs Godzilla! This great piece is still up for grabs!

So much great stuff this time around. I just wish my wallet could keep up.

Now that the auction is over, we thought we'd share some of the results.

We know one item everyone is curious about was the linen-mounted Creature from the Black Lagoon one-sheet movie poster that went on the auction block.

Final hammer price?

$18,107

I can't wait to see it hanging on my wall! (I would have said if I had bought it.)

Good heavens....someone had a lot of money.  :o :o

Indeed. Though original Universal Monster movie posters are worth every penny! And to think, the Creature poster is on the lower end of monetary value concerning these classic posters!

'Cause there's a lot more '50s posters around thaN '30s posters. If there were only 2 remaining CFTBL one sheets, they'd be quarter million dollar posters!

Don't worry, I bought it for your birthday. I had a few extra bucks burning a hole in my wallet.
