Thanks, man. I have tons of these things and I'll be posting them every so often. Hopefully other members will post theirs as well. This is the genesis of enough highly prized trash to choke Linda Lovelace.  >:D  :D

Stan Lee struck again in 1964 with Monsters To Laugh With which became Monsters Unlimited with issue #4 and ran for a total of 7 issues. It featured full page photos from our favorite monster movies with joke lines typed into word balloons inserted in the photos. Most of the jokes were corny, and many were dated, but just like with our monster trading cards we love them anyway. I remember getting #2 and #4 when I was a wee monsterbrat. I looked through them so much I wore the covers off them. They were only 25 cents, but they were very thin.

When Marvel did their monster magazine blitzkrieg in the mid-seventies their answer to Famous Monsters was Monsters Of The Movies. It started in 1974 and ran a total of nine issues including the annual. Presented below are my first five issues. This was one of the best monster mags ever published. Most of the work was done on the west coast by Jim Harmon and Ron Haydock (of Fantastic Monsters Of The Films fame from the previous decade), and superfan/director Don Glut. It was then edited further by Marvel proper on the east coast and the resulting friction probably quickened it's demise. For one reason or another most monster magazine titles seem to be doomed to an early death regardless of quality.

And now...more seamy Stanleys! *choke* *gasp* *cough* !!!

Adventures In Horror was a sleazy little rag that only ran the two issues and then had a title change to Horror Stories. It ran in 1970 and featured text stories with accompanying photos, and a few of the photos displayed naked bOObage! Oh my! Anyhoo, there were some wonderfully smarmy ads in the back featuring adult books, naughty photos, blow-up dolls ($3!), swingers listings, and other illicit fun from a preinternetporn time of hornyness.

In 1975 Marvel hit us with Unknown Worlds Of Science Fiction. This was a pretty darn good SF mag with a full quota of monsters. The caliber of the art was high with work by Neal Adams, Al Williamson, Richard Corben, Michael Kaluta, Frank Brunner, Bruce Jones, and many more. My full run is pictured below.

Nice Kelly Freas cover on #1.

Kaluta cover for #2.

Beautiful Brunner cover.

Another great Frank Brunner cover.

The last cover is by Don Newton of Charleton fame.

This is the Journal Of Frankenstein one shot published by Calvin Beck in 1959. A couple of years later Beck would begin publishing the long running Castle Of Frankenstein which would compete with Famous Monsters until the mid '70s. This one shot is fairly scarce these days and generally trades for $25-$75 depending on condition. High grade examples would be rare. I've never seen or heard of one in high grade. A real piece of monster mag history here.

Front cover. Pardon the annoying scanner shadows.

Back cover. More scanner shadows  >:(.

In 1976 Dez Skinn helmed one of the coolest monster magazines ever, The House Of Hammer. It was mainly a text and photos mag ala FM, but it did feature many excellent Hammer film adaptations in panel art form. Many were illustrated by the very talented John Bolton. Presented are my first few issues. Issues 2-6 have eluded me thus far being quite scarce.

Oh, I agree!

Which was the reason I was hesitating to post mine, that plus the fact that they aren't at all trashy.

Here therefore are scans of my first few House of Hammer magazines:

Here's a scan of the splendid back cover of #14:

I agree! It's therefore not surprising that I don't have any of these issues either.
