Usually the stores that have the earliest Halloween stuff are the craft stores, like Michael's.  They have to be early so customers have time to build and paint the decorations for the holiday.

The other places to look are TV sales and mail-order catalogs.  Gotta have time to ship.

Received my first Oriental Trading catalog in the mail last week.  (Same old junk.)

I'm looking forward to the return of these!

I think they're already out in some places. I believe someone posted about getting some on another board I'm on.

robodog- Those crème eggs are intense! My daughter loves those things, and I've asked her not to eat the regular ones in front of me! They have that yellow & white color scheme that grosses me out...shiver. I assume the Halloween eggs are different on the inside, so maybe I'll buy my kid a couple of those   :)

I'm sure they just changed the food coloring.

The box says, " the goo's gone green" and "same great taste inside".

If I had to eat a raw egg, I think I would rather the yolk NOT be green.

I don't know. I've heard green eggs and ham are pretty good.

I've never seen those and I love the wrappers, but I was curious about the statement "same original flavour" -- same as what?

I think these are just a Crunch bar, Rice Krispies and chocolate!  Nope, I take that back, this is actually normally called a Coffee Crisp; chocolate with layers of vanilla crisp and coffee candy.

Yes! We gave those out to trick or treaters last year with plenty left over. Mmmmmm, good!

Correct!

Are Coffee Crisp chocolate bars available through ordinary channels in the States?

???

Collecting! It's what I do!

It is (for all intents and purposes) exclusive to Canada.  It was briefly marketed to the US for about three years starting in 2006, but was then discontinued.  Apparently it is now a British Wholesale import.  Because of that, it probably only appears in a few (and I mean .001%) of retailers.  It's upsetting, as I really want Coffin Crisp.

The Batman

'Very pleased to see Halloween items on store shelves this early.

Kit Kat is a Hershey's candy in the United States.  It is produced by Nestle elsewhere, which makes me think other countries don't have as great of Kit Kats as we do.  :D

How long has Kit Kat been available in the States?

???

I think Kit Kat was originally a Rowntree's bar. I remember it being labelled Rowntree's here in Canada back at least 45 years. The Swiss Nestlé conglomerate acquired Rowntree Mackintosh of the U.K. in 1988 and Kit Kat bars were shortly thereafter rebranded Nestlé in Canada.

Hershey's has been the American manufacturer since the '70s and will continue to be until the Hershey's Co. is sold -- which will, hopefully, be never.  :)

I am so excited!   Already picked up a few Halloween decorations!

Okay. So I guess Hershey acquired the licence to produce Kit Kat for the American market from Rowntree Mackintosh.

Yes, in 1970. When Nestlé bought Rowntree in 1988, they still had to honor the license. You can read all about it here.
