Monsters For Sale

Mickey Mouse Club serial -  The Hardy Boys: Mystery of the Applegate Treasure.

I saw it when it first aired in 1956.  It was introduced on Monday, Oct 1, 1956 when I was nine years old and ran Mon.-Fri. for two months.  (I turned ten on Oct. 16, 1956.)

I liked it then, and I like it now.

Wow, MFS I have the same warm remembraces as you about watching that Hardy Boys serial (made from Dixon's book called The Tower Treaure) -- "Gold doubloons and pieces of eight, handed down to Applegate". Couldn't wait for the next episode!!...

That theme song was seared into my head back in 1956.  It was sung by Thurl Ravenscroft, the voice of Kelloggs' Tony the Tiger.

I wish I could find a copy of the 2nd Mickey Mouse Club Hardy Boys serial:  "The Mystery of Ghost Farm".

I never saw it and Disney has not released it on DVD.  It aired too long ago for any homemade tape copies to have been made.

Maybe I'll watch my DVD of "Spin & Marty".

MFS, your post inspired me to find a copy of the Applegate Treasure on Amazon -- it has been over 50 years since I watched this as a kid, so I'm really looking forward to getting it. I found a "like new" copy for $57, far less than half of Amazon's $140 price for a brand new one.

Stephen King's "Storm of the Century".

It has been a little warm here and I wanted something with a damp, cold atmosphere to take my mind off it.

It worked.  I loved the continuous howl of the wind in the background.
