I got the Hammer Phantom of the Opera from Netflix, and it ended up having three other movies on the disc!

Watching Paranoiac now.  Oliver Reed is fantastic.  I didn't care all that much for Phantom, though.

That's one of the two discs from the old Universal Hammer set. That's the old DVD18 version. It has been rereleased on a 4 disc DVD9 set.

"The Witch" (2016) - I've heard a lot of great things about the movie, so I saw it today. I thought it captured the period very well. It was grim, realistic, well-acted, but very bleak & slow. I really don't think I would recommend it to others, though.

Mike...In 3-D!

That's exactly the impression the trailer gave me.

Barbed Wire Dolls (1976)

Not a monster movie, but it is exploitation fare (WIP) that many consider a subgenre of horror. I'm going through some of Jess Franco's filmography so I'm hitting some of the explo stuff. This one stars Lina Romay (big surprise ;D), Paul Muller, and Monica Swinn. One of the more explicit Women In Prison flicks with lots of Uncle Jess' zooms at the naughty bits. Franco's films kind of grow on you, and this one is fun. We thrived on this naughty cinema back in the day at drive-ins and grindhouses. With the saturation of porn nowadays these older flicks seem kind of quaint, but enjoyable as a product of their time. If you're a WIP fan you'll dig it.  ;)

Ugh! Such high hopes for this! I dont mind a slow burn......but are there any decent scares or creepiness?
We're all here because we're not all there.

It's a high quality piece of work. It's based on ancient folklore. I don't think there was one decent scare in the whole 90 minutes (not even slightly). Like I said, it's a sincere effort that did it's very best to capture the feel and atmosphere of that era. There are quite a few people that love this. Check out Rod W.'s review in the Modern Horror section. Others here seem to love it, too. I would like to hear what you think, if you see it.
