Then I am guessing this might not be on your Christmas wish-list, Jim? 8)

I'll give any movie a chance. Heck, I like the bad ones as long as they're not boring. Konga crossed the line into boredom for most of its running time.

Continuing my Halloween tradition I watched "Dracula vs Frankenstein" and "Mad Monster Party" tonight.  Watch these two the week of Halloween every year.

Big Lots has gone nuts and has recently been offering some surprisingly good DVDs.  Don't know how long they've been doing it (I don't go there very often), but over the past month I was able to pick up:Konga; An Evening with Kevin Smith 2; the uncut edition of The Professional; Mysterious Island and a bunch more -- all for $3!  Wish they'd get in some more classic horror...

This weekend I watched Mysterious Island (enjoyed the Harryhausen documentary better than the movie, which needed a lot more monsters)

Also watched the original Alien.  When watching, I always consider the monster as one of Lovecraft's Old Ones.

CreepysFan -- just yesterday I got out my copy of Mad Monster Party to watch later this week.  As a kid, I had it bad for Francesca.
They're going to make you one of them, my peacock!

For stop-motion animation Francesca was pretty sexy, but my childhood crush was Angelique of Dark Shadows.  Still, if I had a life sized living Francesca........well getting back on track, earlier today I watched "From Beyond". Nowhere as good as Lovecraft's original story, but they kept it close enough to be enjoyable. I tend to be a little to critical of Lovecraft related items, but still usually try to enjoy them.

Just got done watching LOST BOYS: THE TRIBE.  Best part of it was turning it off.  Corey Feldman did his best to re-use every line of dialog he had in the original film, yet he couldn't even do that with any flare or dignity.  Corey Haims wisely did NOT reprise his role in this film... though he did appear in the Alternate Endings and the scene that oh-so cleverly interrupts the closing credits.  Angus Sutherland has no acting talent, and even his voice is an affront to those without the foresight to mute to movie.

To be fair, it probably would have made a marginally successful made-for-tv sequel; the production quality was decent and the gore-factor is lighter than most of these kind of movies (lots of blood, but none of it that graphic).  Too bad the movie worked so hard to throw nudity in; they could have accomplished the same effect with just a few seconds and let the actress and the audience maintain some shreds of dignity.

If I ever watch this dvd again (which I now deeply regret purchasing), it will probably just be for the boobs.

And next time, I'll put it on mute.

Tonight I watched "Critters", "The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll", and "Curse of the Mummy's Tomb". "Critters" was definitely the best of the three films.

MOnday night we watched Creature from the Black Lagoon I admit I was too tired and passed out. Last night we watched The Wolf Man. My wife started in on the old "different pants" thing to which I kindly reminded her - these movies are beyond critiquing. They are the original monster movies. Different pants so what? Our first house didn't have a dishwasher either. Just watch it Baby! Tonight: The Mummy.
