BARON TIMOTHEUS BGG

Dear UMA FANG-MILY,
... Recently, I watched BUBBA HO-TEP, with BRUCE CAMPBELL & OSSIE DAVIS
... And, as part, of a SHAKESPEAREAN Duo, of  "Classic" Fooles: our own inimitable MONSTER KID Brother: DAN "THE MAN" ROEBUCK!
... Despite the "R" factor... a GREAT MUMMY HORROR/COMEDY MOVIE... As THE MUMMY would say: "IT"S A WRAP!" ;D

The latest one for me was THE QUATERMASS X-PERIMENT(1955)
DARK SHADOWS:

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

REVENGE OF THE CREATURE.  With all the rain we're having it set the mood for something wet.

Last night I put in one of my favorite classics which I hadn't seen in several years, Island of Lost Souls. Drenched in style and atmosphere, fantastic lighting and photography, in my book this one ranks right up there with the best of the Universal Classics even if it was from Paramount Studios. It was directed by Karl Freund who is no stranger to genre films and in a brilliant performance that blends a strange sense of humor with real insane menace Charles Laughton stole the show. This one really needs a full blown DVD release with all the bells and whistles.
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.

I watched the American release of Rodan this morning. I'll be watching the original Japanese release later tonight.

Watched "Event Horizon" today.  Gotta love a movie that combines the dimention Hell, folding physical space, and a spaceship to get there in.  If ya gotta be damned, this is the way to get there.

I watched "Bubba Ho-Tep" again with my friends tonight. I've been watching the double disc set of "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" off and on all day. It includes the original 1982 release plus the 2002 version with added scenes.

I am probably one of the few people on the planet that does not care for E.T., George.  I have tried it many a time and still long for him to whip a big ol' ray gun at the end until they leave him alone.  ;D  My wife loves it just the way it is and says I have lost my mind....no new news there.  However, the score by Johnny Williams is absolutely top-shelf in my book.

"E.T" was the first movie that I paid money to go see at the theater multiple times back in the day. I think I saw it six times the summer of 1982, plus countless times on TV and on VHS and now DVD. It remains to this day my favorite movie. And hey, it's a Universal movie, with homages to "This Island Earth" and "War of the Worlds" to boot :)
