I'm a Stooge fan from day 1. Inherited it from Dad. Have a huge box set of Stooge films about 6 feet from me as I write. I passed on the Stooge gene to Jordan, and I'm nearly ready to begin Jonah on his Stoogification (he's not ready until he can instinctively and immediately block a double eye-poke with the side of his hand). I'm no slouch, and I know and love the Stooges as well as anyone here.

That said, that trailer is KILLER, and I'm front row with Jordan the minute this opens. I guaran-damn-tee that this movie will look like Citizen Kane next to Dark Shadows after Burton gets finished ruinin.........I mean, adding his unique spin to it .

Save me a seat.  It may not be the originals, but so far it seems like it'll do justice to the magical trio.  I'm seeing it.

I don't know how many times on Monstuh Boards, I've heard genre fans say variations of:

"I wish they'd give us new films, but with the classic monsters! Cast Frank, Drac, & Wolf with actors who look like Karloff, Lugosi, and Chaney, and use the Pierce designs!"

But now when it comes to The Stooges -

- that same concept is blasphemy?

Makes no sense.

Craig, that is the most sensible comment I've read yet.  Well done.

A more credible sign that "the end is near" than that stupid Mayan calendar thing.

As dull and uninteresting most current movies are, at least here is something new i can tune into- two hours of stupid, mindless fun. Sounds like entertainment to me.

Casting an actor because they look/act like another actor (Unless it is for a biography or a spoof.) is just about the dumbest thing I've ever heard....and it just so happens to have been a prerequisite for this movie!  I'd see nothing wrong with using Pierce's designs though, as long as the movie is worth it!  My question is would those same genre fans be clambering for Dracula, The Wolf Man, Frankenstein, etc. to be cast in a film where they find themselves part of a reality tv show, complete with "stars" from Jersey Shore; Which by the way is the concept behind this Stooge-tastrophe!  I think not!!

But even still it doesn't matter what the plot of this is, it is the fact that they are just copying Moe, Larry and Curly instead of being their own Stooges!!  Shemp never tried to become Curly or vice versa, Joe Besser nor Joe DeRita tried to be Shemp or Curly they took the buffoon caricature and made it their own and for me made the Stooges (no matter the line-up) the Stooges!!  The same thing can be said for Christopher Lee's take on Dracula, it's what made him great and instead of being in Lugosi's shadow rose above and made his Dracula just as important and outstanding as Lugosi's portrayal!

You can look at many cartoons for examples of this as well, from Disney to Looney Tunes to Walter Lantz to Hanna and Barbera, etc and find all the same character types but represented in different ways, it's their look, sound, mannerisms that make them stand out and become icons all in their own right.

I suppose for just mindless "entertainment" then this faux-Stooges may pass the time but in the long run this won't pass the test of time...This one will be easily (Hopefully for those that see it!) forgotten.  If my presumptuous hatred for this refurbished-inept piece of "celluloid" makes me a snob then so be it! :)  I'll save my money for G.I. Joe Retaliation!

Not when there's someone running around touting the performances of Joe Besser and Joe DeRita as stooges, it ain't.

I laughed more during that trailer than I ever did for any/ all of the  Besser or DeRita stooge performances.

And I'd rather give the new movie at least a SHOT than be subjected to any stooge production Besser or DeRita was in.

Championing Besser's & DeRita's 'work' as stooges while flinging everything not nailed down at a production that attempts to give us at least a facsimile of the stooges who were actually funny and entertaining------is just about the dumbest thing I'VE ever heard. (Not really. ;))

It would be right up there with NOT giving someone's attempt at producing a facsimile of a GREAT meatball and gravy recipe a CHANCE-----then going on about how 'classic' a taste Chef Boyardee's Rollercoasters with Meatballs has---'because they didn't copy it from anybody'. :o

If you're going to be a Stooge Snob------at least have some TASTE regarding entertainment value. ::) ;D
