Thanks, Scatter, but actually it's supposed to be a werewolf,  :'(

Honestly, that was my first thought...........but the NOSE threw me. Wasn't canine to me, so I said "Must be a Primate!". It has a Planet Of The Apes vibe to it.

QuoteIt does look like an ape now that I think about it - as a matter of fact, it kinda looks like YOU!   ;D   The pic came out too dark and I think it obscures his lupine features - I might just redo one!  But, how on earth could you ever think I would draw an ape?  Or a gorilla?  Or King Kong?  Or Bigfoot?

What WAS I thinking??  ;D

These aren't exactly "monsters" but I think of them as being other-worldly.

DL, those really have an Escher-flavor to them. Very exquisite!!

Good point!  Needs to be wet & dark!

That just sounded weird, didn't it?

Thank you Aura of Foreboding, for the Dark Shadows recommendations.

UP...Mark! I think you showed a lot of guts and skill with the Green Bay drawing, especially as you had "packed" in (sorry! :D) seven different elements that could all potentially go wrong...very brave work. The Wolfie on Wheels (LycaBiker?) should be on a t-shirt! Lovingly detailed!

dlhenderson...Dan! I have your Spooky Physics site in my favourites folder, so I recognised your style straight away! I'm nuts on anything in monochrome but it is lovely to see some of your delicate artwork in colour. How did you get on with blending colour pencil? As you usually blend the charcoal drawings with your fingers.

Amazing work as always. I have to ask, how do you keep from smudging the artwork with your fingers and hands?

While going through some stuff today, I found this drawing I did about 10 years ago.  Hope you get a kick (start) out of it!

Werewolf On Wheels by The Golden Gorilla, on Flickr

Pure awesome with a dash of super-cool!!

Thanks for the nice comments. The colored pencil I use is basically pigment mixed with wax. It doesn't smear like graphite. The blending is done by applying the darker colors first, followed by an aggressive application of the lighter (translucent) colors. This one was inspired by pictures from the surface of Mars.

Illoman

DL, what size are the originals of the flower illustrations?

Just like me!  ;D

Seriously, thanks!

dlhenderson - great to see you posting your art again.  Your charcoals blew me away, and now these great pencils - just amazing!

Mark, that Werewolves on Wheels piece is really great! It looks as if it could be the cover for the comicbook adaptation of the movie.
dl, the flower illos are very beautiful.  They have sort of a 70's psychadelic vibe.

Those colored pencil drawings are 8 x 8". I also did some large versions w/ oil on canvas (4 x 4'). When I get a minute, I'll post one or two of those.

dlh- Your flowers are fantastic! I've looked at them several times, and I am mesmerized by the colors. They are very beautiful  :)

Thanks, Charp13!
Here's one I posted in another thread the other day...

These started to get pretty insane on a larger scale. These are 16 sq. feet.
