Thank you creaturerevenge, Illoman and RICKH!

curseofthewerewolf, superb inking on the Black Bolt background! I feel all nostalgic!

creaturerevenge, I love your Alien poster design! That really should have been a limited edition card to go with the DVD/Blu Ray release. I can't wait to see Prometheus...the film and what you come up with!

horror1o1, that just screams to be a T-shirt! And a good choice of colours.

Thanks. I dig your stuff as well very cool.
It's all about the Horror.

Thank you horror1o1!

Here's my latest doodle! Quentin Colllins! Now I just need to see an episode of Dark Shadows! It's never been shown in the UK, as far as I know.

I agree with UP, it is a great illustration!! I'd like to see you portray his *other* side!!!  :D

Here's a quick ink sketch I did it was suppose to be kinda a caricature but didn't go as goofy as it was suppose to.lol!

It's all about the Horror.

Here's an oil painting I did back in junior college for an oil painting class. Never have properly framed it (mainly due to the 'real' stretched canvas) and have not taken terribly good care of it. My son always liked it and I am somewhat proud of it still. Not a monster, but somewhat horror/fantasy related. AS usual, backgrounds were always a struggle/afterthought for me.  I never did an oil painting after junior college, but at least I dabbled in it and figured Frazetta had nothing to worry about.

Illoman

Doug, that's a cool one. The use of color is well executed.

WoW  The work here just exploded with wicked stuff!!!!

Master Monster Artist Markchro (what is the Chro part anyway?) Welcome to the UMA.  Glad to see your work here as well as at CHFB!!!  I love all the stuff you've posted my friend.  Incredible stuff.  I bow to you.  LOL.

CreatureRevenge.  Glad to see the second part to that T2 piece and just as I thought it's fantastic!! Brilliant on how it hooks together with the Sarah piece.  Just plain ol'BRilliant.  And dude that Alien is soooo cool.  Where did you get that reference of the Alien?  What medium is this?

CurseoftheWerewolf.  Loved looking at your Kirby inks.  Beautifully done.  Gotta love the King!!!  That Black Bolt is outta this world.   And no wonder your kid loves that painting, it is wonderful.  The smoke is great, as well as the cragginess of the skin.

Horror1o1.  Keep the stuff rolling.  Your work is fun and your designs are well done.

Unknown Primate that alien statue Rocks!!!

Here my take on Dark Shadows Jonathan Frid for the CHFB monster art challenge.  Like Markchro I've never seen the show but have always been captured by any photos I've seen in Monster mags since I was a kid.  Not sure how I've missed the show over the years but this Monster Kid lost out.

creaturerevenge

Markchro! That Quentin is incredible! I love the expression on his face! Really well done!

CurseoftheWerewolf the colors on that painting are really cool! Very Gogos looking color selection!

Gossamer thanks for the kind words on the Terminator and Alien pieces! That Barnabas you did is awesome! I could totally picture that hanging in Collinwood Manor!!

Those Terminator pieces and the Alien piece are digital paintings done with a Wacom tablet. I use stacks and stack of reference material when I do a piece, but my main inspiration for the pose on that Alien piece is actually (as silly as it sounds...) the new Alien chopsticks that just came out (or are coming out, im not too sure if they are out yet or not)! I Saw them on a website and I had been looking for a germ of inspiration for the Alien piece I wanted to do, and the pose was just so different that what you normally see for the Big Chap from the first film! In working on that Alien one I had a flash for a different Alien piece I am just sketching out now that will be an acrylic on canvas piece.
Do you like monsters? They're my only weakness...

Creaturerevenge!  Right back at you with thanks about Barnabas!  It was alot of fun to do and  relatively quick to paint. Just add blue.  LOL!

I can't believe the work that can be done digitally and your work simply blows me away.  The T2 and Aliens work could easily be Dark Horse comic covers.  Very professional and killer compositions.  Man I gotta search out an image of the Alien chopsticks!!!

creaturerevenge

Thanks man! The chopsticks are pretty cool! They have one of the Alien himself and they also have a facehugger set and a chestburster set. They are pretty sweet! I don't like to do nothing but digital work because I feel like it make me lazy lol I like to get up and get covered in paint working on canvas pieces and such too, but digital is definitely my main medium. Eventually I am going to invest in a Wacom Cintiq with is basically and digital drawing tablet that is also your monitor, so you can draw directly onto the screen with a Wacom pen or a Wacom airbrush. Unfortunately they will set you back a few grand, but they are really amazing! It's a beautiful bled of digital art with a classic painting feel to it!

You're most kind Goss! As far as the Chro...I'm not very imaginative with usernames when required so I went down the route of my name in bits Mark Christopher Owen..yep, something I could just about remember! LOL! Somebody thought it had something to do with the marker pens I use!  :D

Thank you UP, Illoman, Goss and Creature Revenge! ;D  I'll have to look for a reference pic of Quentin in Wolfie mode! But I do have plans for a Barnabas drawing real soon.

Horror1o1, your Creech is great fun. You have one of those styles that would work well with woodblock or linocut prints.

Curseofthewerewolf, a fine piece of surrealism! I love the cool blue tones of the skintone shadows against the fiery lit tones of the smoke!

Goss! A smashing portrait of Barnabas! I love that creepy background and the swirl of mist!

Creaturerevenge! I've seen artists working on the Cintiq and it looks amazing! I wish I had the funds though In the meantime I shall keep my skills up to scratch with good ol' trad art and getting my fingers nice and dirty! I do use my fingers during the painting process, for blending!

Thats my favorite part of traditional art and painting! It is definitely the one thing that digital art lacks! That nitty gritty hands on feel! I like how forgiving and loose digital art is (theres never a need to get intimidated by experimenting or trying something new since you can always save an alternate version of it or hit the undo button) but nothing can replace that feeling of paint and ink under your fingers! I would love to see a Cintiq that is a touch screen as well as a normal Wacom tablet, so it can simulate that finger touch blending and smoothing!

A lot of inspiring art here!  Everything is so awesome!

Here's an idea I had for a SHOCK MONSTER comic book cover, done with sharpies & pencils.

Another one I did awhile back - minus the monster, which I'll add later.

Hope you approve!
