Okay everyone, I need an opinion on this one. I am coming to a close on a print I've been working on for a while now, and I cant decide on something. The original Day the Earth Stood still is one of my personal favorite films of all time. I have collected just about everything I could on it (including a fiberglass casting of Gort's head!) but I realized a while back that for as much as I love it, and as much as I love art, I have never done any DtESS artwork of my own! So I set out to create a retro, art-deco style movie poster. The design on Gort and the ship and everything is so classy, I wanted to do a piece that had the same sleek and balanced look that they have. So I am down to the wire on this, but I can decide weather to have Gort's visor closed, or have it open with a light shining out of it. I have a version of each that I will post here, if I decide to have the visor open then have some tweaking that has to be done on it, but closed is pretty much done. I have been waffling back and forth, clicking the layer on and off for about 30 minutes, so i decided I needed the opinion off other classic sci-fi lovers! So guys, wadaya say???

Better 1?

Or better 2?

Love the visor open.  It not only adds a warmth to it but a sense of action to the viewer as well.  You can almsot feel the light coming for you....  Great job as usual.

agreed, the open visor certainly adds a "warmth" to the piece.

Wow, get bored more often lol.  I'd love to see what you come up with!

While digging through my crawl space "unearthing" parts of my collection that I haven't laid eyes on many years, I came across some artwork my brother Jim did for me back in the mid-1990s.  I completely forgot I had these and am delighted they survived and are in nearly original condition.   Surprising because they were given to me in glass frames and have been wrapped in newspaper all this time.  I carefully removed them for these pics and am going to get them in proper glass-free frames so they can breathe.  They are oil on canvas and are 9"x12".  (Just had to share.  I absolutely love these.)

That's some good talent to have in the family.  Really love how the Wolfman turned out.
