So this will be the what the hell were they thinking, when they made this *movie* thread.

So, I am sure most of you either watched part of or seen "Sharktopus"....

Did anyone watch "Behometh" tonight...the monster looked liked some Kaiju that Godzilla would have fought on an alien planet...

"There is only a special weapon that can destroy it" is what one of the characters mention....it was a Rocket Launcher...geeesh.

but, that is not why I made this thread, the advertisement for another SyFy hit.... "Mega Pthyon vs Gatoroid"  starring two of 80's pop stars.... Tiffany and Debbie Gibson....WoooHoooo....I must set my DVR for this great film , which brings me to my question....

SyFy, what the hell were you thinking?

I half-watched Behemoth tonight, waiting on the appearance of the monster.  It didn't show up till, what?  90 minutes into the show?  It was a very boring monster, too.  I agree, Doc, and I, too, wonder what in the hell these movie makers were thinking!
" Perhaps he dimly wonders why, there is no other such as I. "

I whole heartedly watched Behemoth last night, and I even rewatched Meteor Storm in excited preparation for Behemoth! It started out ok and brought in various myths, legends and beliefs, but it got a little boring in the middle with all the family stuff. I was really mad that at the hour and a half point we only saw 50 percent of Behemoth and then at the end SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!, when they decided to "shoot" it, they showed its Behemoth-y glory!! The body part look like I could make it out of LEGOS and the "tentacles" were flimsy. I really didn't mind the bad CGI, the acting was pretty good, but the story was "frail"!

RedKing

I thought the Behemoth looked like something Godzilla or Ultraman would have fought, only if it had been a Japanese movie, the Behemoth would have ACTUALLY DONE SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate these lousy CGI movies where the monster is only shown for a few minutes and does nothing! it stood on top of the mountain roaring and flailing it's tentacles for the last 10 minutes of the movie-WOW HOW EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!! >:(  I also saw the commercial for Mega Python vs Gatoroid and am simply astounded by the sheer stupidity of it-and naturally I will be tuning in when it airs in teo weeks! ;D man if old Ed Wood were around today, he'd have a thriving career making movies for the SyFy channel I think! As for Sharktopus, I didn't see the much of the movie but I did see Roger Corman's cameo and that made me smile. The Sharktopus itself was cool/goofy looking and the CGI was awful, but that is par for the course in these epics.
Crazy am I? We'll see if I'm crazy or not!

These movies go better with a six-pack (or two) of cold ones.

If we were talking about a film called "Monty Python vs Gatorade, I'd consider that a must watch.

What ever happened to my Transylvania Twist?

Those who watched "Behemoth" did ya recognize the Cigarette smoking guy from "X-Files"...he was the father.

What the H.... were they thinking?   I believe they thought that "These 'monster kids' will buy in to any thing, so advertiseres will pay us a lot of money even though our product is ridiculous."  >:(
We have to prove to them that we are only interested in something of quality and that is done by not watching the junk, not buying products that sponsor the junk and , lastly, letting the advertisers know why we are not buying their product.  That hits them in the wallet, and sponsor's don't like it.  :o  >:(
If just the American members of the U.M.A. would do that, in 6 months we would begin to see a difference in programing?  ???  8)  thrhrt

If these horrible CGI monsters of SyFy would have been B&W Scifi films of the 50's...would we still bash them???

I think we would, look at "The Giant Claw" or "The Praying Mantis"....

 >:( I never watched either of them.  ??? Sheer stupidity!!  :-[ But then, I would be embarrassed to admit it  ::) if I had!! thrhrt

I would say that syfy and Asylum Films are establishing themselves as the modern day Roger Corman.  Jaws/Piranha, Forbidden Planet/Forbidden World , Snakes on A Plane/Snakes on a Train.  On top of the movies made to capitalize on others popularity, they mass produce movies Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus and Mega Piranha, much like Corman's stand alone films.

I would say syfy and asylum are following in legendary footsteps and are doing a wonderfully craptastic job.
