Gargoyles, BUG and Dark Night of the Scarecrow were a few TV movies that scared the sh!t outta me as a kid.

The Other and The Dark Secret of Harvest Home were two that  I really enjoyed back in the 70's.  They certainly had a creepy vibe to them.   I love the books they were based on, Tom Tyron was the author.

The Dark Secret of Harvest Home...didn't that star, Bette Davis??...
if it's the one I am thinking of, very creepy  movie..

"The World Beyond" staring Granville Van Dusen, JoBeth Williams, and Barnard Hughes.

I happened to catch this when it aired back in 1978. I was 5 and it scared the crapola out of me. People trapped on an island being stalked by a mud monster. Had no idea what it was called and I tried to find it for years but nobody ever knew what I was talking about. When I finally found info about it online I was surprised to find a lot of people's stories were similar to mine - saw it as a kid, scared the crap out of them, looked for it for years but no one knew what they were talking about. LOL!

There is no official DVD or VHS tape of it, only one known version that was taped off the TV. I know of a site that lists it or you can try ebay

Gotta love the rarities..........thanks buddy!

RACE WITH THE DEVIL (1975)
I always thought this was a made-for-tv movie, but evidently it was a theatrical release.  Starring Peter Fonda, Warren Oates, Loretta Swit, Lara (Angelique!) Parker & the great R.G. Armstrong as the sheriff.  I love this flick!  Satanic cult relentlessly pursuing the two couples.  Some real creepy sequences and sometimes very surreal.  I highly recommend it.  I hear there's gonna be a (sigh!) remake.

* Semi-Spoiler Alert *
A classic, downbeat ending.

Just saw this again about a month ago after around 30 years..........still rocks!! That last scene still gets me. Keep 'em coming! I'm getting new titles all the time!

Yeah, that's the one. It had that rural horror element which always works for me since I live in the country.
You can't kill the boogeyman.  Halloween (1978)

"Day of the animals" I think that is what it was called, where the all animals went crazy from something to do with the ozone or sun?
I think Leslie Nielson played in it...anybody remember this movie?

no problem....

another film, I enjoyed(although the monster was a bit over the top) was "The Prophecy" Talia Shire played in the movie..
Husband and wife fly to Alaskan Town? to investigate problems due to a lumber mill? I think....
Not sure if this was a made for Tv movie or regular..
It has mutated bears as the monster...anyone else seen this movie?

Wicked Lester

Day of the Animals is OK. I got in a boxset cheap. Watched it twice and passed it on. Prophecy the same. Not bad for it's time. Along the same lines one of the dumbest movies of that era has got to be Night of the Lepus. Real bunnies jumping around and pushing plastic cars out of the way. Cool if you're 8 now...meh.

but, NOTL has Giant Chickens too  ;D

The Creeper

I remember a ghost story that Disney did that I thought was good called A Child of Glass.  I have mentioned it before hoping someone had it on dvd, but no one did.  I hope they do make it on dvd.  Does anyone else remember this movie?  What I remember is that this family moves into a mansion and there is a ghost of a girl who was killed there and thrown in a well i believe.  And she asks the boy to help her solve her death so she can rest.
Long live the UMA!
