Speaking of John Waters, I love the guy and think he would make an excellent "Grandpa Munster"!

[Kirstie Alley] Same thing I was thinking (ugh).

She could play a MUNSTERS' REVENGE-era  'DeCarlo Lily', though!  :D

(P.S. Marilyn is supposed to be in high school)

:o  :o  :o Holy cellulite, Batman!!!  I am seriously amazed at that photo.  I have not seen it before.  I'm not going to say anything mean.  I actually feel really badly for her.  I wonder at what point you just give up and say screw it, I'm just going to eat and drink as much as possible until it kills me.  Seriously amazing.

For what it's worth, Kirstie Alley is a lot thinner at the moment. She might make a decent contemporary "Lily" against a Brad Garrett "Herman".

I think the way to go with this type of reboot is to set the narrative from Marilyn's perspective. If they went about this in an "Arrested Development"-ish way following Marilyn as the main (Jason Bateman-type) character I think it could be quite funny. Imagine her as a teen and being totally put-out by all the rest of the family's moronic shenanigans.

As far as a Munsters' remake, I always thought RAYMOND's Brad Garett would be the perfect Herman, and the late Peter Boyle would have been a great Grandpa.

I could envision both.

The original Munsters was popular, partly, because it spoofed the Universal Monsters -- a subject well known to all kids at the time thanks to the '60s monster craze.  What kids know the classic monsters now?  I don't know if this can work for today's audiences.  if they can carry it off, more power to 'em -- but I'll be skeptical until I see results.

And there's no replacing Gwynne and Lewis.

They did. AF is currently one of the top musicals on Broadway, and it is great.

The "clip" I saw on Letterman with the Broadway cast left me and Jane cold. Seemed uninspired and off. I hope the rest of the show is better than that one song, and the cast are better than on that one night.

Well, Terry, it HAS been done -

- with John Shuck and Howard Morton, Edward Herrmann and Robert Morse, and Sam McMurray and Sandy Baron!

(How WELL, that's a matter of taste!)

John Waters is the man! I just can not see him as Grandpa Munster.
