There was a certain charm to 1960's sitcoms that allowed the premise to work.  I just don't see that being able to happen in today's world.  But I'll watch the pilot.

I guess he didn't. I must have seen him do it in a stand up routine or something (sans make-up)

HEY GUYS . ITS ONE OF MY BEST SHOWS..........MAYBE IT WILL BE GOOD THIS TIME LETS GIVE IT A CHANCE........WE NEED MORE MONSTER STUFF ON TV NOW ANYWAYS.......BIG JOHN......ALL OF US LOVE THE 60S AND 70S TV SHOWS LETS BE REAL NOTHING BEATS THE GOOD OLD DAYS ...EVEN IF THE NEW MUNSTER'S ARE BAD ITS BETTER THEN NOTHING..........ICE MAN

My knee jerk reaction to this would be two words: train wreck. Shows like the Munsters worked because of the cast, and due to the culture it aired in. I just can't see it happening in today's crappy culture.
