Amazing! I'm just starting out now and you can all be confident that as my collection grows, I'll be revisiting these pics for inspiration and ideas. It's all new to me, so there's so much out there I've never seen. But I look forward to learning..... :)

Hey Tom, I see you have a Marvel No Prize.  Are employees elgible?  I see it wasn't mailed to you, did it just happen to follow you home?

I may be wrong but I don't think they give them out any more.
I got mine from one when  of my old Marvel Editors found an old box full of them up at Marvel and sent me a few as gifts .. So no I never got one the classic way by writing a great letter or finding a mistake in the pages of a pre - 1980 tys Marvel comic.
For those of you who are not Comic fans .. A No prize was something Stan Lee came up with when a reader went above and beyond the call of a normal reader and wrote a letter which pointed out a mistake made in a comic, a story point or continuity error and so forth. He came up with these No Prizes and would send out one.. An empty envelope with No Prize in it :)
I did not get mine by doing that but I still enjoy having them anyway :)
Best..

Hello all,

First off I just want to say how much better I think this board is than the last one. I never went to the last one because I didn't feel like it focused enough on just "monster talk". I really like the layout of this new site and also the fact that you can post photos in a thread. As long as the board  stays along this new path I'll be a more active member.

On that note, here are a few photos of some of my collection...  ENJOY!!!

And for that I am grateful. You have an incredible collection there (is it Shawn?). I believe we have spoken once or twice before via e-mails? Love your Flickr folders by the way! Drooled all over myself there many times before. Thanks for sharing pics of your incredible collection!

Amazing collection Zombo. I know how you feel about the old board. I sometimes felt intimidated due to my lack of knowledge outside of monster toys and if its one thing these guys know is monster trivia. I'm liking these individual forums much better. Now it's time to go back to take a closer look at your collection pics. For the record, you've got one mighty sweet Ideal Monster Lab there. Just beautiful!

Hey Shawn,
Glad you made it over - I was really hoping you'd jump in on this post.  You have one of the finest monster collections around.  Some really amazing stuff, and a huge quantity of it...thanks for the pics.  BTW...I'm still drooling over that green Shock MOnster mask of yours - AWESOME!

That is breathtaking, a wall of gorgeous red and green. Thanks so much for posting that.

The Phantom Creep

Thanks fmofmpls (Terry correct?, yes it is Shawn) for the compliments and glad you enjoyed the flickr stuff. I'm actually on there quite a bit. It's amazing what you can find photos of searching around on there! I've also started groups on flickr focusing on photos of Monster magazines, old photos of people as kids in Halloween costumes (lots of Ben Cooper, Collegeville etc.), peoples collections on display, vintage roadside attraction souvenirs and Robert McGinnis paperback covers.

I threw in the photos of some of my movie poster collection just to show some stuff other than toys. Unfortunately it's much more difficult to display that collection!

Roback, what I meant about the old board was that I felt there was too much talk about things other than monster stuff. Now I'm interested in MANY things other than monsters, but I don't come here for talk of music, food, peoples kids, what you did over the weekend etc. There are other places for such things. At least now if that sort of stuff creeps in here it's easier to avoid.

Andy, thanks again for the invite. I would put up some better photos of that Shock Monster mask for you but my camera died. Maybe after Christmas!

Thanks again for the kind words all of you and please everyone keep posting photos of your collections!!! Also a really big THANK YOU goes out to all who made this site happen and keep it going. Keep up the good work!!!

It'll probably creep in here a lot, over in the general discussion area.  Many of us have become friends (online and offline) beyond the monster hobby, and enjoy hearing each other share our thoughts on other subjects.   I think people held back from that as much as they wanted to in order to try and accommodate people like yourself who didn't want to hear (read) any of it.  Now everyone can get what they want without having to get it all if they don't wish to...  which is a good thing.  :)

The complaints mainly center around those who liked getting it all, and now that will be much harder.  Hopefully they will be able to enjoy it anyway.

The Phantom Creep

That's why I'm glad that there is a separate place for personal discussion amongst friends, I just hope that people use it. Sorry if I come off sounding like a jerk here, I don't mean to. I understand that many of you have become very good friends and that's great! Nothing like monster collector friends! I just thought that on the old board it took too much time to wade through the personal stuff to find the great discussions about monster items. I'm so glad that this board exists for all of us collectors to share info, ask questions and help each other out.

Anyway, sorry to get on a negative vibe here. That was never my intention. I'm already REALLY enjoying this board and I mean no harm! :P
