Which is it? Outer Limits or Twilight Zone? I must consult with The Mystic Seer.

The Mystic Seer says THE TWiLiGHT ZoNE.
This episode unsettled me a bit when I was a kid.

I'll cast my vote for the Outer Limits, although I do admit I need to watch more Twilight Zone. I consider neither to really be "horror". OL is more sci-fi and I always thought of TZ as more "fantasy". But I do think the OL had a harder edge and that's why I always gravitated towards it. There aren't too many episodes of OL that weren't playing for keeps.

Twilight Zone had tons of Monsters, not all monsters are gruesome unhuman freaks.
Some of the episodes had neighbors turning on neighbors, friends turning on friends.

then of course you had this kid.

Nah, that's what I mean. Human betrayal isn't horror. It's a typical Tuesday. As for Billy, that WAS a horror episode. But horror was only a part of TZ. OL was all horror all the time. That's why, though I love TZ and have the series on DVD, OL still is it for me.

My friend, I haven't seen many OL episodes (although I am intriqued due to this discussion), but that OL "monster" in no way is more horrorifying than the Burgess Meredith episode you picked, one of my favorites to this day.

He loved books but never had time for his pastime, after a nuclear fallout, he's the only one left with time to read millions of books, then in his excitement, breaks his glasses. By himself, all his treasured books, all the time in the world and he can't enjoy his favorite pastime. That is indeed horrifying! LOL!

In all seriousness, I am entertaining the idea of picking up the OL seasons 1 and 2 from target for 20.00, after hearing other member's viewpoints on it has definitely intriqued me. Always learning more and more from the UMA!

That Burgess Meredith episode is irony, not horror. Shoot, if the Library made it through the attack, don't tell me every optometrist office was obliterated LOL!

On an island, all alone?  Twilight Zone.  Then I could watch this episode and feel pretty decent about my situation:

But it is horror when you can't take part in the very things that please you, and you are completely alone. Irony broke his glasses. Horror is living through his situation.

Yeah, I did think about that...he can't find one pair? Come on man...lol.

I like the TZ episode, where the guy has a stopwatch that stops time, and then it gets broken.
Tell me, that aint horror, to be the only one not frozen in time, and he has no way to fix it.

Street Worm

Outer Limits for me!

(not that Twilight Zone wasn't great, too)

LOL!! Yeah, that's the way my mind works. When I saw that episode as a kid, I yelled at the TV  "For goodness sake, you have all the free eyeglasses you need now!!"
