 There is a swamp monster around Bishopville, S.C. in the Scrape Ore swamp.  Original sightings during 1972, with more around 1988 and 2005.  Lizard Man has been described as 7ft with scaly green skin and orange or red eyes.  I remember the `72 sightings from newspaper articles, living in South Carolina at the time.  Maybe Doc Conner's secret hide-out, or a lost Sleestak?

We had a few weird sightings around here a few years ago.  Turns out the guys seeing strange critters in the woods were making moonshine, and the lizard men were ATF and state cops sneaking around in camo getting ready to bust them!

 The closest thing to S.C. Lizard Man pics I've ever seen was a few S.C. 'Palmetto Lottery' comercials with a man in a lizard suit, while I was visiting back home in Columbia a while back.  Damn media cashes in on everything.  Next they'll have Bigfoot drinking Lipton Tea.

the most famous of these reports is the case of the Lake Worth Monster. This case hit the public consciousness in the summer of 1969. While America was caught up in the moon landing, sightings of this hairy creature were being reported in the Greer Island area of Lake Worth in Fort Worth, Texas. The animal was described as being approximately seven feet tall, weighing in the neighborhood of three hundred pounds, covered with white hair and walked upright like a man. It was purportedly seen repeatedly throughout the year and during July the area was packed with locals who had witnessed the beast. At one point it was said to have become annoyed at the onlookers and hurled an automobile wheel and tire at them from the distance of five hundred feet. Needless to say, they leapt into their cars and departed the area post haste.

The last reported sighting of the creature that year was by Charles Buchanan on November 7. He was sleeping in the open bed of his pickup truck and was awakened when his sleeping bag was suddenly grabbed by a creature and was pulled from the truck. He stuffed a bag of chicken in its mouth and it shuffled off into the water and swam towards Greer Island.

This series of events was the impetus of my interest in this field. I was a child of nine years old that summer and my grandparents lived in Fort Worth. They had a boat on Eagle Mountain Lake, which was separated by a dam from Lake Worth. I can still remember seeing the headlines in the Fort Worth Star Telegram about the "Goatman." We spent many a night anchored out in the middle of the lake and my imagination ran rampant with all manner of scenarios of the monster climbing aboard our boat.

  Looked up more info on the TX Goat-man, and came across other sightings.  Prince George County, Maryland in the `50's and `70's.   Louisville, Kentucky during the `50's.   Smith Mills, Kentucky during the `70's.   Damn it Doc, now I'm getting hooked on this Cryptozoology bit.

The Lizard Man is described as being seven feet tall (over 2m), bipedal, and well built, with green scaly skin and glowing orange eyes. It is said to have three toes on each foot and three fingers on each hand which end in a circular pad on them that stick to walls. The creature has an incredible degree of strength, more than capable of ripping into a car.[2]

The first reported sighting of the creature was made by Christopher Davis, a 16 year old local, who said he encountered the creature while driving home from work at 2 AM on June 29, 1988.[3][2][4] According to his account, Davis stopped on a road bordering Scape Ore Swamp in order to change a tire which had blown out. When he was finishing up he reported having heard a thumping noise from behind him and having turned around to see the creature running towards him.[5][2]

Davis said the creature tried to grab at the car and then jumped on its roof as he tried to escape, clinging on to it as Davis swerved from side to side in an effort to throw it off. After he returned home, Davis' side-view-mirror was found to be badly damaged, and scratch marks were found on the car's roof--though there was no other physical evidence of his encounter.[6][3][2]

"I looked back and saw something running across the field towards me. It was about 25 yards away and I saw red eyes glowing. I ran into the car and as I locked it, the thing grabbed the door handle. I could see him from the neck down – the three big fingers, long black nails and green rough skin. It was strong and angry. I looked in my mirror and saw a blur of green running. I could see his toes and then he jumped on the roof of my car. I thought I heard a grunt and then I could see his fingers through the front windshield, where they curled around on the roof. I sped up and swerved to shake the creature off."
