That's terrible.

I can see that from some drop-shipper who is just shuffling other people's wares.  But, you'd think they would take more care with their own product.

Sad to see it, and as i've carped about before, their customer service is below the floor. Outright antagonistic. Even their employees know it, and suggested I order the damaged item from another retailer and defraud them by claiming the damaged item I received directly from NECA can damaged from that retailer. Crazy.

I think they may use a third party drop shipper. I ain't ordering another thing from NECA store directly though. I have been on board with them for the long haul, but they are killing my nerves with this sort of thing. If I don't see it on a store shelf, I can live without it.

That sucks! You should send them the picks and ask for a refund.

Exactly the route I am taking.

Right.

If they were selling cheap rubber bath toys it would be tolerable.

But they are selling collector items at collectors' prices.  They need to be held to a higher standard.

In collector packaging.  :)

But oh do they make an issue out of it. Even disclaiming on their website: "NECA DOES NOT GUARANTEE PRODUCT BOX / PACKAGING." I received a $150 order mangled, butter shipping box crushed and twisted and they wouldn't even bother filing with the shipper. Rudest "customer service" I've ever received and, as I say, employees in other departments are well aware of the lousy behavior. If it's not an exclusive item, there's no way I'll order direct from them ever again without a serious and public change in their behavior.

"So, of course, we don't have to care."

If the packaging matters to you, buy from someone else.

Yeah, I'm not going to buy from them directly anymore. I am getting back to the point where if I can't see it in person, then I am just sitting it out. That will also save me a bunch of money, and I am honestly to the point where I am thinking "I got a lot of stuff already anyway...."

Went to my area comic/specialty shop just now. Lo and behold: perfectly mint in box Phantom Masque of the Red Death sitting there.

Moral of the story: I hate mail ordering collectibles.

Wish I could get everything at a local store. (Don't have to pay shipping, for one thing.) I'm having pretty good luck with my online purchases, though. If only people didn't think a bubble bag will protect a cardboard package. :(

Does anyone know how long ole NECA has the Universal license, and which films are part of the license? In this new regime change after buying Karloff's likeness from Miss Sara, losing to the Chaneys in court, and whatever the bloody blue blazes went on with Metaluna Mutant, I am just curious what's what.

See....they haven't really ventured out past these films:

1. Dracula (and Carfax Abbey b/w version)
2. Frankenstein
3. Wolfman
4. Mummy (Im-Ho_Tep and Ardath Bey versions)
5. Bride of Frankenstein (The Monster and The Bride)
6. Creature from the Black Lagoon
7. Phantom of the Opera (standard/suited version, and Masque of the Red Death version)
8. Invisible Man (standard/suited version and Kemp House version)

Now, there are oodles of paint variations and package variations.....but it seems limited to these 8 films.

The Metaluna Mutant bearing no TM, so am not counting him. Nosferatu and London After Midnight both non Universal, as are the Vincent Price and Horror of Dracula figures, despite including them on their checklist.

Does anyone suspect the license may be limited to the 8 standard bearers these days?

One thing you forgot, The Phantom of the Opera figures don't have the Universal license on them either. (At least the standard one doesn't. Not sure about Red Death).
