Doesn't have the right monster in it. No vampire, werewolf, mummy, etc.

Yes, you're correct. Maybe Universal thought that Dynamo Dan the Electric Man was more Science Fiction than straight horror.  Just like The Invisible Ray. The Karloff - Lugosi films are not included either. Then again, I would not include films like Black Friday etc.

Universal could have made a standalone set with Abbott & Costello meeting the Monsters, therefore freeing up some space for more traditional horror films.

I should not complain, as I don't own the 30 film set.

Anyway, watching a Labor Day Munsters Marathon.  This  is a nice change!

All of those movies were included in other DVD collections. I'm in no hurry for Blu-rays.

As far as the "other DVD collections go: "knew that, been there, done that, and I shelled out the dough! But as you know Mike, Universal releases the same things over & over....and gives us the same films again & again. The new BD Legacy collections show that! So, yes Mr. Scott, I know what you mean.

At least the 2004 Legacy Collections (even though the format sucked), weren't giving us the same content three times over. By giving the consumer more bang for their buck (if that is their intention), they've literally made it impractical to purchase all three BD Legacy Collections. Also, given the fact that Universal has been pretty glib on these things. If I already owned Dracula & Frankenstein on BD - I wouldn't even bother? At present, I don't own any BD's of the Classic Monsters, so naturally I got pretty excited about the Frankenstein Legacy Collection. Lack of info is changing that.

However, it would be nice if Universal could release some information on all the restorations, as it could prove to be a major selling point. Apparently, Universal doesn't see it that way - at least up to the present time. A press release stating: "All Eight Frankenstein Films Restored and in HD" would certainly free up MY wallet a lot more than it is now! I don't know about anyone else, but it would sure put me in "quick draw mode" with my cash. At first, I had "assumed" all eight were restored. Maybe waiting until the reviews are in...

I'm not trying to be argumentative Mike - I thought it looked like a good way to finally have all eight Frankenstein Films restored and on BD.

I didn't think you were!

Anyway, I just meant that I'm not in a hurry to get any BDs when I've get good DVDs of the same movie. Especially since I already bought the "big 8" BD set.

I last watched a classic Universal Monster Movie a few years ago, on Halloween. I think I watched about 5 of them.

Mike, do you have the 2014 Legacy sets?

And if you do - how does Dracula & Frankenstein look? Any better than the 2004 sets?

A friend brought the BD of Dracula over when it first came out and I was blown away by it. I have never seen Dracula look (or sound), that good before.

The restored Dracula hit the 12 inch laserdisc on 1988, while the restored Frankenstein was released in 1986. I had the Beta & laserdisc of that and I thought that laserdisc's would be the pinnacle of home video. What did I know? 12 inch laserdisc's suffer the same fate as 33 1/3 vinyl albums - possible warping.

No and I'm glad I waited, now that they're gonna do BD versions.

The "Big 8" titles in the 2014 sets use the same transfers from the BD set.

I guess the reviews should hit just before 9/13.

I thought they were only doing Frankenstein and Wolfman sets. Has anything else been announced?

No, but I assume they're going to do the rest. It would be silly to just do those two!

You're right, Universal would never do a silly thing.

Currently watching Son of Frankenstein with my wife.  She is not a fan of classic horror but I have got her to watch Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein and Son of Frankenstein in the last week. She actually asked me today, "Can we watch one of those old Frankenstein movies?" lol
The air itself is filled with monsters.
