She actually asked me today, "Can we watch one of those old Frankenstein movies?" lol

Sounds like someone is becoming a fan! :)

Yes! Nothing like a good old Frankenstein movie.

Speaking of good old movies --

I watched The Cat and the Canary 1927 Tuesday night. :)

I've been watching '43 Phantom of the Opera all week. I know it ranks pretty low with everyone but I've always had a special place for this film since it was the first movie version of Phantom I saw. Funny I seem to remember my first viewing of this film to be more horrific than it actually is. I tend to remember Claude Rains being a bit more edgy and eccentric as well as his makeup being much more horrendous. People can say what they will about this film but the unmasking scene scared-the-hell out of me at age four or five so much that I didn't pluck up the courage to watch again til I was 8. So I have a history with this film even though it will always live in the shadow of its more iconic predecessor. However I can't dog the film. Claude Rains is my favorite actor, the color is beautiful, and I actually like the Operatic numbers particularly the last one which I occasionally get in my head every now and then (the one when the chandelier comes down).

Mike...In 3-D!

I forgot to post this when it happened, but I FINALLY got to see Creature from the Black Lagoon on the big screen...in 3-D no less! A local theatre was showing it so I caught the weekend matinee.

....and? Don't leave us hanging. How was the big screen experience  ( lucky dog)?. Did the 3-D live up to expectations?

It was great. The whole thing was a great nostalgia trip (even though I wasn't around for it's initial release). The theatre has been open since 1928. They keep it maintained but haven't "modernized" it. I sat in the balcony, put on my red and blue 3-D glasses and was quite pleased at the amount of parents bringing their children. The only down side was that I couldn't wear my normal glasses with the 3-D ones, so things were a bit fuzzy. That wasn't a huge problem since I've seen it a dozen times already. Plus, another theatre by my house is showing the standard version in October so I'll be there.
