One of the fascinating things about not only the DST 18" Frankenstein but their entire 18inch line that was shown that year (there was also an Indiana Jones and other figures) is that buyers at Toy Fair kept comparing other items to them. For 4 days it was "Well, if Diamond can do an 18inch figure for X why are you charging XX for a 6 inch figure or XX for a 12 inch figure?"

By the 2nd Day of Toyfair a mass of other manufacturers were huddled around the booth trying to figure out how Diamond managed such a low price point. Then, a few months later it became apparent, they couldn't and they didn't. The price was FAR higher than they had said and the figures were not produced. But even to this day, people bring up their amazing price point...forgetting that the price point was never achieved.

There is a very old joke about a woman who goes to a butcher and asks for his price on pork chops, he sais 10cents a pound, the woman scoffs and says the butcher down the street sells them for 7 cents a pound. The butcher asks "Why don't you buy them from him then?" and the woman replies, "I can'
t, he is sold out" to which the butcher replies "When I'm sold out my price is only 5 cents"

Wolfman

Karloff looks strikingly.........no, wait a second, he doesn't look anything like Godzilla.

I just consider us lucky to even still get new Uni-Monster stuff. My kids laugh at my collection and consider the movies "old and boring"

Unfortunately it seems the folks at Universal see this which is probably at least partially why the newer movies (I'm looking at you Mummy and Van Helsing) are ed up action adventure flicks.
