Amazing collection, Adam! Do you even know how many colors there were, or are you surprised every time you see a new one?

Funny how it goes with some items.  You don't see any at all for a couple of years, and then several come up within a few months.

I originally missed out on the Purple Frankenstein, but got it from one of the buyers from an auction I missed.

Seems there was a minor find of Franks not long ago.  Not enough to effect market price.

As for color variations, each batch of plastic starts out as neutral (either white or clear) and color is added and mixed before toys are made.  So there could be many subtle variations out there - if only the toys weren't so fragile.

Are they still being made, anywhere?

Don't think so.

The most recent one I know of was maybe ten years ago.  The Black Frankenstein was made by a Mold-A-Rama machine owner who was testing his equipment.  He made a handful for other machine owners and a few to sell to recoup his costs.  He claimed to have made only 12 total.

He was nice enough to sell one to me (very cheaply) because I had contacted him and asked him numerous questions about Mold-A-Rama and his hobby.  I asked so many questions, I was afraid I would make him mad.  But he seemed to really enjoy sharing his voluminous information with someone outside his very tight little circle of friends.  Most hobbyists love talking about their particular passion.

Wasn't the mold for the full Frankie figure up for sale a little while ago? I seem to recall it was.

Edit: Monsters for Sale had posted this in the Mold-A-Rama thread. It was for sale a few of years ago.

Found my record of the Black Frankenstein.  It was made in 2006.  Being unauthorized, it is the only Standing Frankenstein with no lettering on the back of the base.  All others I have seen say either "Universal Studios" or "Universal Pictures" on the back.

Yeah.  Someone had the mold for the Standing Frankenstein with "Universal Studios" on the back of the base listed on eBay in September of 2012.

But he wanted $10,000.00 for it and it went unsold.

This is in regards to your black Frankenstein, or all black Frankensteins?

Great collection!

As far as I know, this was the only Black Standing Frankenstein ever produced.  If anyone has a Black with lettering on the back of the base, I would have re-think the matter.

Cool!

I thought that he had made a color that did not already exist.  (If I had a mold, I would.)

Very interesting to see that.

This example came from the minor find you referred to earlier.  I think the seller had three blacks total.
