Gill-Man was almost in "Van Helsing"

Some storyboards were released from everyone's favorite trainwreck, Van Helsing, that introduce the titular Creature from the Black Lagoon inside Castle Dracula. Check them out here: http://bit.ly/1CxI1n0

Also interesting to note is that Anna's name was Mina and Frankenstein's Monster looked much more traditional. It may also have been more violent, as it seems Igor gets decapitated or something by the Gill-Man.

To think they almost wrecked him too. I can only imagine the horrible CGI Gill-Man they would have come up with.

Whoo boy! Are we all glad we missed out on this!

I wonder if they would have given him dreadlocks & the power to sing (like that Universal Studios musical we all love).

It was bad enough that they took a big, steaming dump on the top three classic monsters. Gill-Man would have just been too much to endure. Granted, the upcoming "Black Lagoon" might be even worse!

Not the best movie of all time, but I don't feel it was as bad as most seem to think. I'm all for tradition, but Lugosi, Karloff, and Chaney have all been dead for almost my entire life. Exact copies of their classic roles could never be replicated and I'm honestly glad Universal didn't try. I will admit though the VH Frankenstein monster is a bit too re-imagined for my taste.

Creature may have been fun to see, in the end would have just added more kindling to the fire as his appearance in the artwork is weak.

I actually enjoy Van Helsing. It's a fun movie, despite lacking what made the classics so great.

The only thing I liked about van helping was the set design
"Quite a good scene, isn't it? One man crazy — three very sane spectators."

Anton Phibes

Van Helsing is an ok thing. But Tadpole Craeture with tail intact is ridiculous. Why does Hollywood feel this constant desire to re-invent the wheel?

I still find it strange how many things they manage to get right compared to what they're doing nowadays, though. Count Dracula is still pure evil, and he's not whining about how much it sucks to be a vampire or falling in love with the reincarnation of his wife. Frankenstein's Monster still looks like a Monster and not just some hobo. No one sparkles. There's still some element of Gothic imagery and period setting, instead of setting it in modern suburbia.

All the sadder that they managed to botch all the other stuff that they botched. I can't help but think that with a decent rewrite and a better director, it could have been great.

As someone points out in the comments, the Gill-Man would not have "transmogrified"; his claw is seen reaching down and lifting Renfield(?) up out of frame, then he is seen carrying his decapitated head a few frames later.

Oh, just to clarify I am in no way defending anything about this abysmal movie.

I was honestly annoyed they left out one monster from this film who truly belonged.  Having the Ro-man from "Robot Monster" (1953) would have elevated the film by bringing an Extraterrestrial element into this work of cinema.
What ever happened to my Transylvania Twist?

Certainly the Robot Monster would be the most realistic looking monster in that CGI mess.

Perhaps this would have went over better?:

I'm glad I'm not the only one out there who enjoys this movie.
Just remember. There are such things.
