While it's not a favorite of mine, I didn't HATE 'Van Helsing' . It was just overblown like most modern horror/monster movies. But Kate Beckinsale was hot, and the set design was good.

I think this is a fun popcorn movie.  I enjoyed it.  Is it up there with the classics?  No.  It's just a fun action flick.  Would the creature add anything to this movie?  Probably not.  For me, the creature or the mummy does not fit in with the rest.  Glad the creature wasn't part of this movie.

I agree! Although by the same token I'm glad that the Creature was not included as his appearance would have required extremely contrived plotting.

Well at least all the characters utilized in the movie fit into East Central Europe. But the Creature? Not at all.

They could have called him "The Creature from the Black Moat" & put him outside Castle Dracula.
