aura of foreboding

While I have no stake in the debate over the b/w Mutant, as I am not a silver screen collector, I can say that I would have loved to have seen the Mutant done in a variety of paint-schemes and colors: green, red, orange... the works.  Variants would have worked well with this guy, as he has a long history of color changes in the world of Monster Toys.

Nothing against the Metaluna Mutant, but the Thing is a cooler monster, and better movie, IMO.

Better movie, but the actual Thing is just a guy in a Frankenstein head and fingernails on his knuckles. Not that I wouldn't want one, though, but I find the MM a cooler looking alien.

The Thing would be cool, but it's not Universal. It would require taking out a separate license (too expensive for a stand alone character).

Sorry, ravenloft, I forgot you don't order anything.

Not sure why TRU did not get in the banks this year, or Creature. Hope you can find them at a convention or something.

I got my Deluxe Jekylll from my comic shop today - the guy looks fantastic. I love all the props on the table. My only issue - and honestly it's not that big of a deal, but his head doesn't want to come off for the swap. Still, I have my rooftop Hyde from TRU - so I guess they will forever be untransformed.

Pity the line is coming to an end next year, but they're going out on a high (hyde?) note!

Forgot about that. I think it's a RKO picture, correct? He's always seemed like a Universal monster to me though.

Huh. I never even tried mine because I bought the rooftop Hyde from Toys R Us and the Dr. Jekyll from the comic shop. I wonder if that is a common issue with this figure...anyone else have trouble head swapping? My trouble was his hat doesn't fit on the Hyde head. Loved the prop table too. Great figures.

I had similar problems putting Spot of the Munsters together. The top part of the staircase  is higher than it should be, but I got it to where it's acceptable. Also, good luck getting Lily to hold that umbrella. It must be supported by her head to keep it in her hands.

I would GLADLY pay more $$$ to have things made in Japan or the U.S.,  instead of China.  Slave labor at it's worst.

Not sure who owns likeness rights, but WB has the movie distribution/DVD rights.

A lot of people's first exposure to Metaluna Mutant was on a black and white TV in the 60's anyway. So it makes a little sense if you squint just right, lol. But I will always prefer my toys/figures in color. The ilms might be black and white---but a sculpted representation needs color....at least for me.
I prefer my figures in color, as well. I bought the color Sideshow figures but never really went after the Silver Screen versions. It seemed like duplication of what I had in a version that I didn't like as well. The only Silver Screen versions I ended up with was the 8" 1st series 3-pack and that was because Dennis Druktenis was blowing them out cheap in a Scarehouse Sale. Oh yeah, and that LBH full boxed collection in Silver Screen from TRU. Good times when you could stroll into TRU and pick up Sideshow stuff cheap!  :)

Those were the days. I still can't believe those beautiful 8"ers sitting on a rack for only $9.99 (and they had enough so you didn't have to be there the first day to get one).

True, couldn't,t believe that first Frankenstein figure I saw at Target, wow O0

Really, man! I remember how awesome that 1st series of 8"ers was. I bought two sets right away, one to take out and set up and one to keep in package. When I was leaving TRU with those figs I just kept thinking "who is this Oluf Hartvigson?". Those things looked better than most statues I had seen. Sideshow is the high point in monster figures, no doubt.

Oluf did all the figures but the Phantom. You're absolutely right...those figures were better than most high end sculptures (not to mention those incredible accessories). I'm a cheap bastard, but I also had to get two of each (one to display, one to hang on my wall). They're all still with me (as well as a complete set of the 12"ers and quarter scales).
