A new slot machine costs a casino between $9-$20k.
With a per piece price like that it is easy to meet a licensing fee with a guarantee of $50k
You could pay the guarantee after selling less than 200 machines.

Makes sense.

King Kank Kong- I'd love to hear your thoughts on this thread:

Some of that stuff was insider baseball, and I would never say some of it as a public representative of a company, but I assumed most of it was all widely known and understood. Then again, I've tried to explain those things to people fairly often, so maybe it's not.

Someone questioned the power retailers have over case assortments, citing WWE, but I'm sure it depends on the line. (Maybe the buyer for a given store can't differentiate between one naked wrestler and another, and trusts JAKKS or Mattel to make who they think fans want? I can't imagine they're up to speed on all of their properties, especially one that changes on a weekly basis like wrestling.) I know we sometimes balance cases as retailers prefer them.

However, another person suggested that case breakdowns were why the Bride was hard to find, but I'm FAIRLY sure she was evenly packed with Frankenstein and Dracula. But, being (ironically) the TRU exclusive as well as an iconic character, I'm sure she sold pretty fast. I'm sure she would have done well as a Select, too.

Got some shots of the plain stone Hunchback base for me yet KKK?

Being more of a right-brainer and less of a left-brainer, I think the whole licensing process is malarkey, but I'm happy we have people who actually care enough about the Monsters to wade through it all and get us beautiful end products.  Seriously, I think this Phantom is the best figure of the entire line.  I love the retro looks of the early ones, but this Phantom takes the cake.  And I can definitely say I wish there would be more: Invisible Man, Werewolf of London, Dracula's Daughter (or Son), and Red Death would all be terrific.  But, I am happy we got what we have.

I've seen these come straight out of the case and can tell you they definitely come evenly packed. The reason the Bride became hard to find was because (unlike the other two), the Bride had no deluxe counterpart (as KKK surmised). I also feel that the Phantom is the very best of the line. DST has made a total of 8 Mego-style figures, which is more than any of their predecessors. That, in itself, is an accomplishment of sorts.

Thanks bro. I may opt for the plain stone base. He looks a little awkward pose atop the gargoyle imho. That small plain stone base might be the route for me.

Mord

Is there any other difference outside of the bases? I have been buying both versions and would like to continue, but in this case (and the Mutant) it seems one is enough.

King Kang Kong

Just got a gargoyle sample to shoot, hopefully I can make him look less awkward on it.

Both figures are the same, but you have the removable King of Fools gear for two display options. Depends on how much Hunch you want in your collection.

When is the next wave of anything uni-monster due?

King Kang Kong

The Select figures, Retros and Munsters 3 might be out in two weeks? Possibly three.

Not yet. Just leftover Brides on the pegs at my local TRU.

I wouldn't look for them at TRU any time soon. Probably comic shops first.
