Not monster, but I saw these at the library sale and couldn't resist. $15 for 40 books.

Thnks, Prime! Some chew marks on a few, but had to have 'em.  Will throw the really bad ones in the sandbox for the kiddos! :)

Very cool and colorful dinosaurs, and a great bunch o' McBains. I've read a few 87th Precincts in recent years. I read "King's Ransom" because it was the basis for Kurosawa's great HIGH AND LOW, got hooked, and read a handful of the earliest 87th's. Nice, tight police procedurals.

Just won this lot on ebay....had these as a kid and used to use the raptor (blue one) as Godzilla.  Hours of fun.  Thanks Bobby for letting me know about these in a post many moons ago:

Out of curiosity, is the blue one a raptor, or a T-rex?  Before Jurassic Park came out, raptors were rarely seen when it came to Dino-toys.
What ever happened to my Transylvania Twist?

Bogey

Oh, I was just trying to distinguish it out for the post I wrote.  I guess it was their attempt at a t-rex, but not a very good one, IMO.

The only other monster label that I was able to find this year came on a fountain. Notice the Wolfman fountain in the front row? Naturally I saved the label before lighting it.  ;)

To back track a bit, here is the envelope the factory in China sent me way back in 1976. Note the address in the upper left hand corner. My dad always told me that he got questioned regarding why his son was writing to a communist country ( or so he told me, maybe to scare me which it did. )  Really Cool Labels, I never thought of collecting those, You've given me an idea. Thanks.

In case you're curious, here are some of the labels that they sent me. On a side note, of course as a kid I had to ask for more in a second letter. The Chinese got smart after the first packet of freebies, wanted a buck per for every one after.  ;D

Interesting story on those Chinese labels. Reminds me of listening to shortwave radio in the early 90's. My older brother had a world band radio back in the '60's. Around 1990 I decided to pick one up. I did some DX'ing as they call it. Just cruising the mysterious waves in the dead of night. You could send reception reports to the various stations around the world and receive various types of notification, usually postcards with the logo of the station. I started getting all kinds of stuff in the mail. One of the letters I got from Radio Beijing contained a little hand cut paper panda. One day my mailbox was straining under the intrusion of a box that barely fit. I almost had to destroy the mailbox to get the damn thing out. It was a big book on the history of a slavic country (can't remember which one). I've got all that stuff in a box somewhere. During the waning days of the cold war, you could occasionally pick up "numbers stations". They consisted of a voice reciting seemingly random strings of numbers. After the dissolution of the Soviet bloc, they seemed to disappear. I finally lost interest, especially with the advent of the internet.

Spaceship chair by Therin of Andor, on Flickr

This is my very cool weekly find. Literally - on the kerb. I then repainted the old, multi-coloured, part-ruined, dolls' wooden high chair. Note the new green and red buttons on the throttles and gears. A perfect chair for...

I found this Pirate Ship this weekend in a specialty toy shop.  The clerk told me it is old store stock and I thought it resembled the Haunted Hulk.  I added the monsters that my wife got me as a stocking stuffer for x-mas from The Toy Soldier Company and voila, my own version of the Haunted Hulk!

That's a fantastic piece. Great find.

Damn, that IS cool!! Great job combining the 2 different toys...really looks like they go together. You have a really good eye! Hows about some glow pics w/the lights off?

frankenstein73

I just got this box of rubber face puppets  and another magic monster toy( i already had the boxed one) i love the art on the box and its full of 24 faces. i remember the seeing a bunch of different  puppets when i was a kid. i am looking for other face puppets if anybody has any for sale or trade. they have  4 holes in the back for your fingers. i know there is a frankenstein and a viking i need. the magic monster is one of the creepiest toys ive found.

Mirabile dictu,don't you agree?
