I'll miss him immensely... From MISSION IMPOSSIBLE to the voice of BIOGRAPHY.

Of course, I first saw him on FURY...(smile)  A little girl, a horse AND Peter Graves?  Yummy!

He even came out here to Oz to do a gold-rush 'western' series called WHIPLASH in 1961.
Oh, lest we forget, SCREAM OF THE WOLF...

When he was billed in some of the B movies, he was Handsome Peter Graves. James Arness's [Matt Dillion from Gunsmoke] brother.  I will always remember him as Mr. Phelps on MI. Another classic star gone. R.I.P.

Exactly from what I remembered him most.  RIP, Peter.

When I think of Peter Graves, the first thing that comes to mind is The Mysterious Monsters.  With all of his career accomplishments, I'm sure he'd be pleased to hear that!  As a kid, I was aware of Mission Impossible and watched it now and then.  But it was a little too grownup for me.  The first thing that really imbedded Peter Graves into my psyche was seeing The Mysterious Monsters in a theater during its original release.  I had seen some of his 50s sci-fi movies, but did not know it was him.  It was not until adulthood that I developed a more rounded appreciation of his career.

KILLERS FROM SPACE, NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE!  A lot of movie and tv enjoyment from those and many more.   Years ago there was an article in TV GUIDE about James Arness' family background, his youthful years--and I cut out the whole article and sent it to Arness, asking for him to sign it wherever he wanted (it had several "family photos" of him as a kid)--and he did sign it, and wrote a letter, too, saying, "My brother Pete was visiting me here the other day, so I hope you don't mind, I had him sign it, too!"  Did I mind?  It's one of my prized autographs to this day.

It's cool that, through his comedies and TV commercials, Graves continued to make himself "relevant" well into the new millennium.  That's quite an accomplishment, considering how brief most entertainment careers are.

Another childhood icon lost, but will live on in our hearts and memories. I loved Mission:Impossible, and always thought his last name was cool growing up.  R.I.P. Peter Graves.
